How To Use Bird Spikes

Bird spikes are fairly easy to install, and once in place, only require regular cleaning to prevent nests and other debris from building up on the spikes, which prevents the spikes from being effective. Here are some tips to make the installation simple:

• First, determine how many feet of bird spikes you will need. There are different ways to determine this depending on what type of bird spikes you are purchasing. There are narrow, wide, and extra-wide options, with the extra wide size containing the most spikes. Your spikes might come in sections or in pieces, so make sure you understand how your spikes are packaged, and how long and wide your chosen surface is before purchasing.
• The spike bases can be curved or bent to properly fit the surface you want to protect.
• This type of bird deterrent can be glued, screwed, or nailed into your chosen surface. If using screws, try to 5-7 screws for every three foot piece, and if using small self-tapping screws, use 9 screws for each three foot piece.
