Can Bora-Care be used on partially treated wood?

I have 1/2" thick reclaimed wood. One side of the wood has a clear coat polyurethane on it. the other side is the raw wood. I noticed a powderpost beetle working its way out of the wood on the side I sealed. Now I want to treat the wood with Bora-Care. Can I just apply it to the side that is unfinished and it will work just fine seeing's how it is raw wood? Or, do I have to strip the polyurethane first and treat bora-care on both sides of the board.

Answer:

Bora-Care should only be applied to raw wood. It will not penetrate through any wood that has been pre-treated. Polyurethane is equivalent to applying paint, so the best process would indeed to be strip the finish and apply Boracare as this is the only product that will penetrate through the wood and eliminate the existing infestation and prevent future infestations.
