Can shampooing carpet reactivate?

Last year, our pest control guy treated our sunroom. We trusted that he knew what he was doing. He said he used Talstar P. He used same machine as what he used outdoors with huge hose and walked right into the sunroom(in my house). He sprayed all over, not just a crack and crevice like recommended. He sprayed all along the ceiling and all along the baseboard. I am worried about the 90 days residual that got on the carpet. I have a toddler that crawled on the floor and I am sure pesticide spray "drifted" in the mist overspray. Thats frightening. However, thats all done with cause it has been 1 year. We just shampooed the rugs. Does the talstar reactivate with the water from the shampooer?

Answer:

Shampooing the carpet or even rain outdoors will not "reactivate" the product. Any residual that was on the floor or walls from last year is not going to be there any more and will have broken down. Even if he had sprayed a few months ago, the water on the surfaces is not going to make the initially application more toxic.
