Beck from Dallas, Tx writes

Can I use Repels-All Liquid Concentrate to remove rodents, rats, and raccoons, oppossums from my property?

I paid an exterminator to come out, and I see it was a waste of my money. He has been out four times since January 2015 setting out rat bait. The noises in my attic are still here. The rodents constantly dig a hole in my back yard. When I put rat poison in it, and close it up, they'll reopen it in two to three weeks. There are no holes on my roof or around my foundation where they are getting in. What can I use to rid these from my attic, grounds, and RV. They have destroyed the wires under my RV. Can muriatic acid be poured down the hole in the yard? I need to kill them, not catch them.

Answer:

The only sure way to get rid of these animals is by trapping and relocating larger animals such as raccoons and opposums, and by trapping and/or baiting the smaller animals. You can try using repellents outside, but these are not guaranteed and may only work for a short amount of time. Repels All Concentrate covers the most animals. You can use gassers such as the Giant Destroyer to target animals in burrows that are in the yard area (these cannot be used under or next to a building). We would also recommend continuing to use rodent bait in bait stations around the perimeter of buildings. Our Rodent Baiting Kit is great choice for this need. It is common for rodents to damage electrical wiring around vehicles. You can use snap traps for rats or mice on tires, under hoods, or in similar areas where other non-target animals would not be able to access them. The Catchmaster Easy Set Mouse Trap or Rat Trap would be great for this use (you should use the trap appropriate for the target animal). In an attic space, we recommend trapping and removing or excluding animals there with a one way door trap. There are different sized traps to accomodate different animals, so you would need to identify what is there for the best option. Rats only need a hole the size of a quarter to enter, so it is easy to think that animals do not have access. The Tomahawk Dura Poly Live Trap 1232 would be a good choice for Raccoons, Opossums, feral cats, squirrels, and maybe even rats since they could not escape through the solid walls. Another outdoor option still is to install Havahart Spray Away Motion Activated Sprinklers. These connect to a standard garden hose, and the sensitivity and height can be adjusted.  We cannot recommend using products for purposes other than those approved on their labels. We would recommend consulting with your local Animal Control for recommendations that may be approved in your area which are different from those listed here. We hope this information is helpful.
