Can you dip stud or beams using Timbor?

Can new wood studs or beams be effectively treated by dipping in a tank filled with a Tim-bor solution frequently stirred so it remains in suspension? Could full immersion like this be more effective than spraying? It may also be quicker and more economical, with no overspray. Also, are oil-based or water-based sealers or paints better for sealing the dry treated wood and extending the life of the Tim-bor treatment, i.e., which type is preferred? Should any surface powder be brushed off for better adhesion before painting or sealed in?

Answer:

Yes you can use the dip method when using Timbor however, you will still be getting the same 15% solution rate as you would if you were spraying it on and getting the same 1/16" penetration level as well. To get the full penetration all the way through the wood we recommend using Boracare. Yes, you would want to get the surface powder left behind by the Timbor off the wood before using any finishing products.
