    Q
Have a carpenter bee problem on my siding - Cyper, Cynoff, Demon, etc. which is the best choice?
    A

Demon WP, Cynoff WP and Cyper WP are all pretty much the same product though each brand is made by a different manufacturer. These products all contain cypermethrin which is known to do a great job eliminating carpenter bees. We currently offer Cyper WP in our carpenter bee kit because it is the most economical choice. Our carpenter bee kit contains D-Fense dust to dust the existing holes and kill the bee larvae, a Centro Bulb duster to apply the D-Fense dust, Trebor plugs to block the holes so new insects can't move in later and Cyper WP to apply topically to eliminate existing bees and stop new bees and other insects from invading your home.

    Q
Is the residue left behind on surfaces from Cyper WP and Delta dust dangerous for kids to touch?
Is the film/residue left behind safe for kids to touch, regarding a concern for ingestion, unintended transference to food, skin, eyes, clothes and so on? How long before surfaces can be safely touched after treatment? Aside from carpenter bees, are the treatments effective on other bees, insects, hornets, ants, beetles, spiders, midges, etc?
    A
After the products have been applied according to the product label and liquids have dried, there should be no problem with anyone touching the treated surfaces. That being said, most of the surfaces being treated for carpenter bees are not frequently touched by anyone including children (over hangs, eaves, undersides of railings, siding..). Both the Cyper WP and the Delta dust included in the carpenter bee kit are labeled for many insects, not just carpenter bees and will do a great job for general pest control issues.

    Q
How do you control carpenter bees?
    A
The Carpenter Bee Kit with Cyper WP provides a complete carpenter bee control solution for your home. The Delta Dust with the Centrobulb duster allows you to dust in existing carpenter bee holes, while the included 20 x 3/8 inch plastic plugs can be used to stop up the holes. In addition, the Cyper WP will make 24-48 gallons of finished insecticide solution which can be sprayed on target surfaces to prevent further infestation. Please note that the Cyper WP will leave a filmy visible residue that can be seen on darker wood surfaces. Cyper WP must be applied with a 1 or 2 gallon pressurized sprayer. Look here for more sprayers. If the visible residue is a problem for you, you can also choose to purchase the Caprneter Bee kit with Cyonara 9.7.

    Q
Is this safe for animals? Spray has a tendency to drift downwards.
The area being invaded by carpenter bees has our hay in it for the horses and goats and the cats sleep in there.
    A
Cyper WP is safe for animals to be around after it has been applied and has had time to dry. However it is very important that Cyper WP be kept off of the hay if it is used as a food source for the animals. You can do this by covering the hay with tarps while you are applying the Cyper WP. An alternative would be to use a product such as Cyonara 9.7 which is labeled to be applied with a paint brush. Painting an insecticide onto a surface will prevent any issues with "drift". Cyonara 9.7 is included in our other Carpenter Bee Kit with Cyonara 9.7.
