Yes, CoreTect Tree & Shrub Tablets are great for treatment of Hemlock trees, especially because they are so easy to apply and a lot of times the Hemlock trees are located in hard to reach areas in the mountains.  The CoreTect tablets should be applied at a rate of 2-3 tablets per inch of trunk diameter at chest height.  The number of trees one bottle of tablets can treat will be dependent  the diameter of the trees.  This product will take care of the hemlock wooly aldegid insect that is doing so much damage to hemlock trees in the mountains.

CoreTect is labeled for flat headed borers and emerald ash borers are a species of flat headed borers. According to the product label: You will need to use 3 tablets per inch of trunk diameter. For treatment of in-ground ornamentals – For best results on established ornamentals, CoreTect Tree and Shrub Tablets Insecticide should be placed as close to the fine absorptive roots as possible. For most deciduous trees and shrubs, an adequate number of these absorptive roots are located with 6-24” of the trunk, depending on tree size. Apply CoreTect Tree and Shrub Tablets Insecticide 2-5” below the soil surface, next to the plant (ca. within 3-5” of newly planted trees or shrubs, or within 6-24” of well-established ornamentals). To apply CoreTect Tree and Shrub Tablets Insecticide post-plant to plants with a definite drip-line, place tablets 2-5” below the soil surface, evenly spaced around the tree and along the drip-line. Ensure that the tablets are completely covered with soil after application.

You will need to take a look under the hedge and treat each root system individually instead of treating the hedge as one plant. According to the CoreTect product label, you will need 3 tables per foot of shrub height, so for a 7 ft plants you will need 21 tablets for each plant. Release of active ingredient is dependent on presence of adequate soil moisture. For best results, irrigate the plant after treatment, and ensure that the plant receives regular irrigation for at least 2-3 months after treatment

You are correct that you cannot use more than 450 tablets of CoreTect on one acre of property per year. In fact, on your smaller parcel of land you cannot use more than 90 tablets per year. You have a unique situation in that you have so many ficus on such a small piece of property. Every systemic product does have about the same usage limits that you have found on the Coretect. You could of course treat your most susceptible ficus with the systemic Coretect and use a product with a different active ingredient such as Talstar P on the less susceptible ficus as a foliar spray. It might be a good idea to check with a company that specializes in ficus/whitefly to see what they would recommend in your situation. (Most companies will offer a free estimate and will provide you with a plan of action)

While Coretect is not designed as a “preventative” treatment, if you follow the label for amount of tablets needed for the particular plant, the Coretect can stay in the plants system and treat for up to 2 years. The exact time will vary so keeping a watchful eye on the plant for any pest activity is going to help determine the longevity of the product in the plant/area. We recommend contacting a local master gardener or arborist to either come look at the plant, or to see if they know off hand the root area of the given plant.

According to the manufacturer, CoreTect Tree & Shrub Tablets Insecticide has a shelf life of 3-5 years if it is stored in the original container in a cool dry place.   

Yes, CoreTect Tree & Shrub Tablets Insecticide are labeled for use on established and newly planted ornamental trees for treating Japanese beetles.

CoreTect tablets is not specifically labeled for bagworms. We recommend using Talstar P for bagworm control. Timing is key when spraying for bagworms. Apply when larvae begin to hatch and spray larvae directly. Applications when larvae are young will be most effective. You can check with your local Cooperative Extension Office to see when bagworms become active in your region.

Coretect is labeled for rose bushes but they do not list different species of roses. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to seek advice on Hybrid-T Roses. Most botanical gardens also offer free advice to the public and may be a great resource if you have one in your community.

Yes, CoreTect Tree & Shrub Tablets Insecticide can be used for prevention of lace bugs when used as directed on the product label.  

Regular irrigation would be just has you have been doing after using the CoreTect Tree & Shrub Tablets Insecticide.  The goal is to keep the soil wet for 2-3 months so the product gets pushed down the roots and is readily absorbed by the roots.

Yes, you can use CoreTect Tree & Shrub Tablets on your palm tree if the avocado tree is more than 15 feet away.
