Day from Las Vegas, Nevada, United States writes

I couldn't get rid of Springtails in my yard

I kept my yard very clean. from a 400 square feet of concrete pad in my back yard, springtails comes out from the edge of concrete floor and cracks. Las Vegas is very dry place 10 to 20% of humanity, and there are only few plants along the wall with dripping water system. I hired Orkin company to spray the springtails for twice and didn't see any improvement. I used strong acid and helped a little. I bought 25LB bag of Demand G granule to spray in the yard and didn't see much difference. Please tell me is there some insecticide can kill Springtails instantly on contact.

Answer:

Because they are usually a garden pest, keeping springtails outside of your home is the most effective way to keep a large infestation from occurring. The best way to achieve this goal is to treat the exterior of your home with some kind of barrier insecticide, usually a pyrethroid or similar product. This will kill any insects that try to enter your home, whether they are springtails or one of the more common household pests. There are not any products that will kill them on contact. We would recommend using Talstar P. It can be broadcast across your lawn, used on flowers, trees, etc. It is not labeled to be used on any type of edibles.
