    Q
Will Cynoff EC leave a noticeable film on my dark siding?
I notice that several of the cypermethrin based products say they leave a powdery film on dark surfaces. I want to spray my dark gray siding where I have a massive stink bug infestation. Does this product leave a similar film?
    A
Cynoff EC will not leave a white powdery residue on dark siding. The products that leave that white powdery residues are in fact wettable powders and all have the letters WP in the product name (Cynoff WP, Demon WP).

    Q
Will Cynoff EC kill ticks and fleas in the yard?
How much of an area does one bottle cover?
    A
Yes Cynoff EC will kill Fleas and ticks in the yard. You want to mix 1oz Cynoff EC with 1 gallon of water. For best results, we recommend also mixing in an Insect Growth Regulator like Nyguard that will treat the eggs, larvae or nymphs - and prevent them from maturing into reproductive adults thereby controlling future infestations. NyGuard IGR will cause morphological anomalies or changes and disrupt the expected insects' state of development, leading to sterility or death. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Is Cynoff EC safe to use with a well on the property?
I just need to know that using this isn't going to hurt my well water. I also have horses and dogs on the property. What precautions should I use?
    A
All people (except for the applicator) and animals need to be out of the area when Cynoff EC is being applied and they can return as soon as the area is dry. You should not treat closer than 15 ft to the well. Synthetic pyrethroids like Cynoff EC will not reconstitute once they are dry and are not known to move through the soil.

    Q
How long is the residual effect Cynoff EC expected to last?
Cynoff EC is a residual pest control product. When used indoors I would expect it to be effective longer than when used outdoors. I read that it should be applied every two weeks for proper control of fleas, but that seems like a very short residual effect. So, how frequently should I treat with Cynoff EC for control of ants, roaches and flies?
    A
Cynoff EC can be expected to last up to 30 days outdoors and up to 60 days indoors.  UV light and rain outside can deplete the residual outside, but UV light is the main culpret.  If one side of your home is in direct sunlight all day, then you may only get 3 weeks out of the product.  For fleas specifically it is a good idea to treat once and then again exactly two weeks later because fleas hatch every two weeks and your chances are better if the product is stronger than weaker.  After the first two treatments you should be able to only apply every 30 to 60 days for maintenance control.

Is Cynoff EC safe to use around cat?
I have 2 young cats and a 15 yo cat. I don't want to spray anything around my house or front & back door that would hurt them. I have a problem with dirt daubers. They've nearly ruined the red brick around my front door.

    Q
Can you use Cynoff EC with a ULV fogger?
    A
Yes, you can apply Cynoff ec with a fogger. Per label : Use a fogging apparatus which delivers the material in a strong air carrier, producing a small particle size (10-50 microns). Hold the nozzle about three feet from the surface to be treated. Apply when wind velocity is less than 2mph drift. Fogging works great on mosquito treatments.

    Q
Will Cynoff EC kill a yellow jacket nest in the ground? If so, how should it be applied?
    A
Cynoff EC will kill a yellow jacket nest in the ground.  If you know where the entry point is, then you should mix a gallon of product in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  Once you have a mixed a gallon worth of solution, remove the adjustable nozzle off of the end of the sprayer so the solution flows out of the wand of the sprayer quickly instead of spraying out of the nozzle slowly.  You should place the nozzle in the exit/entry hole and flood the opening until the solution back flows out of the hole signaling you have filled the entire void in the ground.  It is best to do this at night or early morning using a flashlight when all of the bees are in the ground and less active.

    Q
Is Cynoff EC safe to use on vinyl siding?
Using the recommended application with a fogger and mixed with light mineral oil.
    A
Cynoff EC mixed with oil can cause staining on older siding or siding that is in need of paint. Homes with newer siding or freshly painted siding should be fine. Just to be safe, you should always test small inconspicous areas to be sure staining will not occur.

  • Asked by Brant from Bettendorf, Ia

    Q
What products are recommended for the control/elimination of Odorous House Ants?
Odorous house ants are present in our home, around the exterior foundation, and throughout our landscaping. In certain locations, they seem to come from the walls. They only present themselves in the warm weather months and disappear during the cold winter months. I have used Cynoff EC in both interior and exterior applications with marginal results. I have used baits from the local hardware store, with Terro Liquid Ant Killer being the only product that they are attracted to. But the Terro seems to only provide limited control without eliminating them. I'm wondering if a dust application or some higher strength bait would provide better results. They are quite picky when it comes to baits, so selecting an effective one has been challenging. Please recommend some products that will help control/eliminate these little boogers!
    A
For an outside treatment for Odorous house ants, Cynoff EC is good to use for outdoor use. Indoors, baits are good to use. A protein bait, Maxforce Complete Granular Bait and a sugar bait, Maxforce FC Ant Bait Gel are the baits that can be used inside. Ants will eat one or the other or both depending on what they are looking for at that moment. A dust that can be used inside the wall voids is Delta Dust Insecticide. That can be placed inside the walls with a hand duster by taking off the electrical sockets and light plates.

    Q
Is this oil based like Demon Max? I don't want any staining. Need a complete general use product for rentals.
    A
Yes, the Cynoff EC is oil based, may stain, and has a foul odor. However, Bifen IT would be a great water based insecticide that will not stain any surface that is tolerable to water, has low odor, and is a broad spectrum insecticide that may be used indoors and outdoors for most of your pest control needs.
