    Q
What is the outdoor rate of Cyper TC in lawn and around home?
How much should I add for 40 gallons? I have an ATV and would like to spot spray my yard and house. Do I have to add 80 ounces to make it be effective?
    A
For treating yards, it is more a measurement of how many ounces per area than ounces per gallon.  For treating a yard, you should apply 1 ounce of Cyper TC per 1000 square feet.  It does not matter if the 1 ounce you are applying is in 1 gallon of water, or 10 gallons of water, it's really however much water it takes to cover a 1000 square feet.  So depending on your sprayer, if it takes you 2 gallons to cover a 10 x 100 square foot area than you would add 1 ounce to every 2 gallons in your sprayer for every 1000 square feet of yard.

    Q
What is the difference between Cyper TC and Demon Max?
I purchased a gallon of demon Max from you and it has been working fine. I am wondering if this is a lower cost alternative to demon Max like Bifen I/t used to be to Talasar. Is it the same yellow oil base?
    A

The Cyper TC has the same active ingredient and percentage of the active ingredient as Demon Max they are just made by different manufacturers. So basically, yes they are the same product and the Cyper would be a lower cost alternative.

    Q
I want to spray for spiders around our house and yard using the garden hose attachment.
I have had a professional come and they use a long hose and sprayer. They spray the whole house, deck, garage, wooden swing set and our wooden seat swing. I want to do this myself as needed. What product should I use for spiders that I can use with a garden hose for large and tall areas? I was looking at cypermethrin, but it says its for cracks and crevices spot treatment.
    A

We do have a liquid formulation of cypermethrin called Cyper TC that should fit your needs very well. Since this is an emulsifiable concentrate, it may cause staining to old vinyl siding so you may want to test a small area if this is an issue for you. If staining is a problem then you could use water based, non staining Talstar P as an alternative. Both products should work just fine in a hose end sprayer.

***Note: We do NOT recommend spraying swing sets or swings of any sort with any type of insecticides. Spraying around the perimeter of the play set area should be sufficient.****

    Q
    Using Cyper TC around water?
We used Cyper TC under our foundation when we built our house in 2005. We ran the sump pump water around a pond in back of our house to avoid any contamination at the time, but are now wondering how long we need to worry about this. Your info says it's effective for 5-7 years so is this the length of time to insure none of the material gets in pond. FYI, we do have the pond stocked and fish from it.
    A
Typically, termiticides like the Cyper TC, have very low solubility in water and they are unlikely to leach out of the treated soil when rainfall or irrigation later contacts said soil. The molecules of the active ingredient tend to bind tightly to the soil particles, and unless the soil itself moves from erosion the Cyper TC will stay put. Cyper TC does not go back into solution when water passes through the treated soil.

    Q
Is Cyper TC safe to use on a property that has a well? Can I use Cyper TC indoors for pest control?
They say don't use this if you have a well, yet you say, "Typically, termiticides like the Cyper TC, have very low solubility in water and they are unlikely to leach out of the treated soil when rainfall or irrigation later contacts said soil. The molecules of the active ingredient tend to bind tightly to the soil particles, and unless the soil itself moves from erosion the Cyper TC will stay put. Cyper TC does not go back into solution when water passes through the treated soil." Is it safe if you have a well? Why is it not safe? Also, can I spray it in the house around my wood baseboards and up my walls in the corner like the insect control guy does? Thanks!
    A
Actually the Cyper TC product label has specific guidelines on how to safely treat termites on properties that have wells. You can find this information starting on page 8 of the product label. Cyper TC is not labeled for use indoors for general pest control and should not be used for this purpose. For indoor general pest control we would recommend Talstar P. Talstar P is labeled for over 75 different pests, can be used indoors and outdoors, is odorless, dries clear, leaves no stains, is non-irritating to the skin, and won't break down easily with rainfall.

    Q
How is Cyper TC around pets? How long should you keep them away from treated area?
    A

It is recommended that you keep pets out of the area that is being treated with Cyper TC until it dries completely. Once it has dried, it is safe for them to return to the area. This is generally between 1-2 hours.

    Q
Can Cyper TC be used to control ants on the outside of a building?
    A
Cyper TC is labeled for ant control outdoors but it will only kill the ants that actually cross over the treated surface, it will not kill the colony. Termidor SC is the preferred product for outdoor ant control on buildings because unlike most sprays that kill the ants right away, Termidor has a delayed reaction which allows the ants to carry it back for you and pass it around and eliminate the entire colony.  Termidor is considered to be the best ant control product ever invented and is widely used by professional companies

    Q
I've read that Cyper TC works great for fire ant control. Is this true?
I have an infestation of fire ants, and the solutions from Home Depot and Lowe's haven't really touched it. I am looking for a solution to treat an acre or so of land that has been neglected for years and is well established with fire ant colonies. Also, once dried is it safe for small pets?
    A
Cyper TC is labeled for fire ants and will do a good job if you follow the product label. According to the product label, you should apply 1-2 gallons of diluted solution to each mound and treat in the 4 ft diameter immediately around each mound very early in the morning or late in the evening (do not treat in the heat of the day when the ants will likely be very deep an will not contact the insecticide). Pets should be out of the area while you do the treatment and they can safely return as soon as the area is dry.

    Q
Parts of a house I rent were sprayed with Cyper TC on the inside. How do I get rid of odor?
    A
The odor from Cyper TC should go away after the product has dried and you have vented the structure by opening doors and windows. If you still feel you can smell the product you can try using a deodorizer such as Odor Hunter or Bac A Zap to help remove the odor.

    Q
How do I make a .1% emulsion for general pest control as recommended on the product label?
The Cyper TC product label refers to a .1% emulsion rate several times throughout the label but the dilution rate chart does not list a .1% emulsion rate. Could this be a typo in the wording and they actually mean 1.00% or did they just not list this emulsion rate on the chart?
    A
The manufacturer, Control Solutions, is aware of this discrepancy. The label actually does mean .1% emulsion even though they do not mention this dilution rate on the dilution table. To make a .1% emulsion of Cyper TC you will need to use .51 oz of Cyper TC plus enough water to make 1 gallon of finished solution.

    Q
How well does Cyper TC work for ants?
I am wondering how effective this product is at controlling red ants, crazy ants, sugar ants, etc. Does it leave a residual to continue to kill them for months at a time? How far out do I need to spray around my house? Also most importantly what is the mixture rate for 10 gal tank? The pest man came to my house to use this stuff and on the ticket he used 8 oz for a 50 gal tank, is that safe is that 25.3% cyper tc or is it weaker?
    A

Cyper TC is labeled for ant around the outside perimter of a structure and it will kill ants that come into direct contact with the treated surface. Cyper TC will not kill the ants that are back at the nest (For this type of effect we recommend Termidor SC). According to the Cyper TC product label:

BARRIER TREATMENT: Apply 0.1% (5.1 oz product per gallon of water) to a band of soil and vegetation 6 to 10 feet wide around and adjacent to the structure. Also, treat the foundation of the structure to a height of 2 to 3 feet. Use a treatment volume of 2 to 10 gallons per 1,000 square feet. Higher volumes of water may be needed if mulch or leaf litter is present or dense foliage exists. House siding may be treated if boxelder bugs, elm leaf beetles, earwigs, silverfish or other similar pests are present.

    Q
What happens if you apply this product outside the home today, and then it rains the next day?
Does the quality or concentration of this product diminishes if you apply it outside the home in a trench for termite protection today, and then it happens to rain the next day? What happens to the effect against the termites in this case?
    A
According to the Cyper TC label: Applying this product in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area. Rinsing application equipment over the treated area will help avoid run off to water bodies or drainage systems

    Q
What is the difference between Cyper TC and Cyper WSP?
Just looking for a good spray to treat against spiders and ants. My bug man said Cyper TC but it looks like the Cyper WP has more of the active ingredient.
    A

For general pest control of spiders and ants, Cyper WSP would be best. Cyper WSP contains a higher percentage of active ingredient and will be less likely to leave an oily residue. Cyper TC is meant more for outdoor use against termites and other wood destroying pests.

    Q
What is the mixing ratio for Cyper TC?
Last year I used Demon Max, it called for a 1/2 per gallon for a broadcast lawn application. This is the basically the same product but mixing chart with this product seems different. I have a 20g sprayer and normally mix in 10oz of product. I can generally cover approximately 1600 sq feet with this. Is this to much or not enough?
    A

For most general pest control applications, you will use 0.51 fl. oz. of Cyper TC per gallon of water. For 20 gallons of water, you will use 10.2 fl. oz.

    Q
How long before I can let our small dogs outside after using Cyper TC?
How should Cyper TC be used for cockroaches in the kitchen? Is it safe to put Cyper TC in a kitchen garbage disposal or behind the oven?
    A

Dogs can be allowed outside as soon as Cyper TC has dried. Cyper TC is not labeled for indoor use so we would not recommend it for roach control in the kitchen. Instead, we would recommend that you use one of our Roach Control Kits. The kits contain everything you would need to completely eradicate a roach infestation. You may also want to take a look at our article on How To Get Rid of Roaches.
