Do I need to pre-mix Pennington Aqua Liquid Fish Pond Fertilizer 10-34-0 before applying to my pond?

If so, why?

Answer:

Yes, you do dilute Pennington Aqua Liquid Fish Pond Fertilizer 10-34-0 with water before adding it to you pond. Liquid fertilizers generally weigh about twice as much as water. Because they are heavier than water, they must be diluted with water or applied into turbulence so that they mix with the pond water and don't sink to the bottom. However, it also can be applied full strength using a pump sprayer. Direct the spray onto the pond surface while walking around the pond. Even still with some sprayers the fertilizer must be diluted with water so that it will pass through the small nozzle openings. The general mixing rate is 3 gallons of water to 1 gallon of fertilizer, applied as evenly as possible over the pond.
