Ken from Louisville, Ky writes

Does using a crabgrass pre-emergent destroy new grass seed? Will the seed germinate later or next year?

Answer:

Most pre-emergents for crabgrass control will prevent the new seedlings from germinating. It is recommended to apply pre-emergents to established turfs(at least 2 mowings). You may use a glyphosate product to kill the weeds now and then overseed the area.
