    Will Drain Gel help eliminate roaches coming up the drain, or should I use a roach pesticide?
    I'm on a septic system also. Can Roaches live in septic tanks and then make their way up the drains?
    A

    No, Drain Gel will not treat plumbing lines for roaches. It is designed to treat the organic matter that builds up in your drains over time that leads to drain flies. Roaches can live in a septic tank, and can come up through the plumbing lines and make their way through the drains. However, you would not be able to use an insecticide in the actual drains. There is a product called Gentrol Aerosol IGR that is an insect growth regulator that stops the reproductive cycle in roaches that can be used in drains. Keep in mind, too, that roaches often just fall into or crawl in sinks because of the water there and do not actually come up through the drains.     Does Drain Gel work in the toilet bowl?
    I have drain flies hatching in the toilet bowl. I see the instructions call for coating the sides of the drain to eliminate buildups of grease, etc. How do you apply Drain Gel in the toilet bowl?
    A
    You will usually see drain flies developing in a toilet only if the toilet is not used very often. Drain Gel probably won't be the best product to use in your situation. You can turn the water off to the toilet and flush it so that the bowl and the tank are empty. Thoroughly scrub both, paying special attention to the area under the lip of the bowl and the tank. Scrubbing and cleaning these areas will help eliminate the decaying organic matter that these flies need to breed and develop in. While the toilet is drained you can apply Invade Hot Shot Foam to the tank and the bowl and let it sit overnight to clean all of the cracks and crevices that you may not be able to clean properly. Invade Hot Shot would be a good choice because it will expand to cover all of the surfaces you need to treat. This may need to be repeated a few times before you get rid of all of the gunk that can build up over time. All drains in the infested room should be treated with either Invade Hot Shot or with Drain Gel.

    Can I use Drain Gel in a sump pump basin for a drain fly problem?
    A

    Once you've determined you're dealing with drain flies, finding the source is the next step. Cleaning up is definitely recommended and typically for sump pumps, it's good to use a foaming product like Invade Hot Spot would be better. The foam will be able to get into the pump, cracks and crevices where the Drain Gel is really only meant for drains in the kitchen and/or bathrooms. If there's an area where water will run-off into sump pump, you could hang an InVade Bio Bullet inside the sump pump in the patch of the water for continuous treatment but do not submerge in the water.

    Is drain gel appropriate to use in aquarium pump and filter tubing?
    I am servicing an aquarium system that has tubing that is inaccessible due to the construction of the system. They are complaining of persistent low pH in the water, and I suspect bacterial growth in the tubing is affecting the water quality. Is drain gel safe and appropriate to use in this context, or is there another product that can be used?

    We have contacted the manufacturer and they said that they do not recommend using their drain gel in aquariums and they advised that you seek advise from a professional that deals in aquariums to find what they would use in this situation.     Would Drain Gel work for my drains at home to treat sand flies?
    I have sand flies breeding in my drains. I've had the bug tested, and it is in fact a sand fly. I'm currently pouring bleach down my drains, it helps, but I need something that does stick, and not wash away the next day.

    Does Drain Gel have an expiration date?
    I purchased 2 one gallon bottles of Drain Gel last year. I had half a bottle left over that I am using before I purchase a new bottle. It is not as thick as it was last year. Is it better to use fresh Drain Gel? Does it expire?

    Drain Gel has a shelf life of several years when stored at room temperature out of direct heat or freezing temperatures.

    Would Drain Gel work for Springtails in a bathtub drain?
    A

    Drain Gel is not labeled for any insects specifically but is used to treat organic matter build-up in sinks, drains and garbage disposals where insects will thrive for food and moisture. Springtails should not actually be coming from any drain in the home unless there is a crack in a pipe allowing them access. Rather, what you are experiencing is springtails that are detecting the moisture in the pipes, and traveling in wall voids and around pipe edges to try to access the water, which is when you find them in bathtub or sink drains.

    We would recommend looking over our guide on How to Get Rid of Springtails to see what areas around your home need to be assessed for moisture and what you can do both chemical and non chemically to deter or eliminate the population.

    Can drains be used between applications of Drain Gel?
    Is daily flushing of drains required during application? Can product be used in abs pipe? Thank you.

    You typically do daily treatment for 5-7 days with Drain Gel and then scale down to applications every 1-2 weeks. Best applied overnight and rinsed in the morning and use the drains as usual.
