Drexel Diuron 80 Herbicide

The Drexel Diuron 80 Herbicide is specially formulated for effective management of many herbaceous weeds as well as perennial and annual grasses. It features dispersible granules that easily mix with water and can be applied as a spray for selective control on crop or non-cropland areas. The herbicide does not cause corrosion to equipment and it is certified non-flammable and non-volatile. Diuron 80 can be administered prior to the development or during the appearance of damaging weeds. It is also great to be utilized as part of an Integrated Pest Management program that can include biological, cultural, and genetic practices aimed at preventing economic pest damage.

Diuron 80 is to be mixed with water and applied as a spray for selective control of weeds in certain crops and for non-selective weed control on non-cropland areas. It is non-corrosive to equipment, nonflammable and nonvolatile.

Diuron 80 may be applied to soil prior to emergence of weeds to control susceptible weed seedlings for an extended period of time; the degree of control and duration of effect will vary with the amount of chemical applied, soil texture, rainfall and other conditions. Soils high in clay or organic matter require higher dosages than soils low in clay or organic matter to obtain equivalent herbicide performance. Moisture is required to activate the chemical; best results occur if rainfall (or sprinkler irrigation) occurs within 2 weeks of application.

Diuron 80, applied pre-emergence, before emergence of crop and weeds, is an effective procedure because susceptible weeds are controlled in an early, vulnerable seedling stage before they compete with the crop. With favorable moisture conditions, Diuron 80 continues to control weeds for some time as the crop becomes better able to compete. Should weed seedlings begin to break through the pre-emergence treatment in significant numbers, secondary weed control procedures should be implemented; these include cultivation and post-emergence herbicide application.

Diuron 80 may also be used to control emerged weeds. Results vary with rate applied and environmental conditions; best results are obtained on succulent weeds growing under conditions of high humidity and temperatures of 70 degrees F or higher. Addition of a non-ionic surfactant to the spray (where recommended) increases contact effects of Diuron 80.

QWill this product clear a murky new dug pond

ADrexel Diuron 80 Herbicide is not labeled to be used in ponds, lakes, or other bodies of water. You will want to use a pond cleaner such as Crystal Blue Natural Pond Cleaner. Crystal Blue is a specialized blend of naturally occuring bacteria that helps with water clarity, reducing pond odors, clean bottom muck, dead vegetation, fish debris and dead plant matter.

QWill Drexel Diuron 80 Herbicide work on my lawn in northern California?
The crash grass here is extensive

A

Drexel Diuron 8- Herbicibe is labeled for several grasses as a pre-emergent. If you meant crabgrass then this would certainly work on it. We†did not find any listing for a "crash" grass.†

QCan I use Diuron as a pre-emergent and post-emergent for an all rock landscape yard?
Crushed marble to be exact? Also is Diuron safe for pets?

A

Drexel Diuron 80 Herbicide†is not labeled for use in any residential areas, only around†listed crops and in non-crop areas such as utility yards, industrial sites, and uncultivated agricultural areas. We would not recommend using this product around your home. The best way to treat under the landscape would be to remove the rocks and treat the ground below it before replacing the rocks so that you can be sure the herbicide actually reaches the ground below it. If you are able to do this, and there are no desirable plants in the area,†then you could use a product such as Martins TVC, which will prevent new plant growth for up to a year when used on the bare ground itself. (You would not want to try to spray this product directly on the rocks because of its blue color.)

If you only get occasional weeds popping up, then it would be easiest just to spot spray as needed with a non-selective post-emergent such as RoundUp QuikPro.

You may have luck using a granule pre-emergent which is then watered into the ground, but it would very important to use a high enough volume of water to carry the active ingredient down into the ground. If the rock layer is thick, then this would not be effective. Keep in mind that many pre-emergent herbicides have a dye in them that could stain the rocks, as well. If you would like to tell us more about what specific weeds you are targeting and how much area you need to treat, then we would be happy to make a more specific recommendation for you.

These products would be pet safe when used as directed. Pets should be kept out of the treatment area until the application has dried.

QHow many pounds of Drexel Diuron 80 Herbicide for a 25 gallon tank sprayer?

A

You will need to reference the Drexel Product Label for how much of the Drexel Diuron 80 you will need since the rate per acre in pounds varies by the weed you are targeting. Keep in mind once you determine what rate you should be using over the area which you are treating for that weed, the†water volume you mix it in is the carrier, not the diluter, so your main focus is evenly applying the active ingredient over the correct square footage.†

On average you will use 40-80 gallons of water per acre and mix in the correct amount of herbicide needed per the coverage of your tank sprayer.

QCan I use Drexel Diuron before and after starting a new lawn?
I have a yard full of various weeds like crabgrass, I have tried growing tall fescue and have now decided on a non-hybrid Bermuda grass. I will start from seed. My question is, can I use this in my sprayer to help clear the yard of the weeds pre and post emergent? Can I continue to use Drexel Diuron 80 on an established Bermuda lawn?

A

Drexel Diuron 80 Herbicide†is not labeled to be used on homes lawns, so it would not be recommended. If you want to kill everything currently growing in the area now, you should use a glyphosate based product like RoundUp QuikPro, then you can resod the area in 2 weeks. †After the sod is established you would use a pre-emergent like Prodiamine 65 WDG and a post emergent like Drive XLR8 to more effectively control crabgrass and other broadleaf weeds.
