  • Asked by Pat from Cape Coral Fl

    Q
What is the ratio of Dylox Concentrate per gallon of water?
How many gallons of Dylox does each 2.5 gal of the concentrate make.
    A
The mixing ratio for Dylox 420 SL Insecticide is dependant upon what you are treating for. Typically, you would use 4.6-6.9 oz per 1,000 square feet. Therefore, one 2.5 gallon jug of Dylox 420 SL Insecticide will cover 46,000-69,000 square feet depending on the ratio used. The amount of water is not as important as making sure to mix specified dosage of DYLOX 420 SL Turf & Ornamental Insecticide in sufficient water to provide adequate distribution during application to lawn, turf or groundcover area.

  • Asked by Chris from Salt Lake City, Utah

    Q
Will Dylox 420 SL Insecticide kill Billbugs and Grubs?
Looking for a product that will eliminate billbugs and grubs fairly quick. I have tried a number of things with very little to no success over the course of 16 years. I tried Bifen and it helped somewhat, but not the desired results. Will Dylox 420 work with billbug's? I noticed that will work with grubs. I'm just tired of trying with really no results. If there are a couple of products that you recommend, for the two listed pests please let me know. Just wanting the results I have been chasing for 16 years now. Thanks for your help.
    A

Dylox 420 SL Insecticide would only help you with the grub issue and if they are actively feeding, it is not labeled for bill bugs. The best time of treatment for billbugs is the same as the grubs, before they hatch so usually in the spring time is best. We would recommend Merit Insecticide Granules for an early treatment and you can contact your local cooperative extension office if you're not sure when billbugs or grubs hatch in your region. When adult billbugs are first seen, Talstar P (Bifenthrin) or Tempo SC Ultra (Beta-Cyfluthrin) can help. We recommend to look over our billbug treatment guide for further information.

How many ounces of Dylox would you put in a gallon of water?
    A

The amount of Dylox 420 SL Insecticide will depend on the what you are treating for. For most pests, such as cutworms, armyworms, chinch bugs, etc., the mixing ratio is 4.6-6.9 fl. oz. per gallon of water. This will treat 1000 square feet. For mole crickets, the mixing ratio is 6.9 fl. oz. per gallon of water. This will also treat 1000 square feet.

  • Asked by Sam from Chicago, Il
    08/28/2018
    Q
Is there a less expensive alternative for Dylox 420 SL to control grubs for a homeowner?
    A

We sell many products labeled for prevention and treatment of grubs. Dylox does comes in the SL (soluble liquid) but also in a Granule. The granule formulation is better for smaller areas. Keep in mind that Dylox is an immediate curactive treatment only, not a preventative treatment for grubs. Carbaryl products have changed to a different active ingredient, but the new formulation of Sevin Granules is labeled to treat for actively feeding grubs at the highest application rate.

You can browse all our White Grub treatment products here. We have products with all the active ingredients you mentioned. We are happy to answer any other questions about products that you may have.

  • Asked by Chrster from Mechanicsville Va

    Q
Is two gallons of water really the right amount for 1000 sq. ft.??
This question and answer is currently in the Q&A section, but I am curious if the amount of water is correct.
    A
Yes, with Dylox 420 SL Insecticide, you will need to use enough water that is going to give complete coverage of the soil or turf. Two gallons of water will ensure that the product is getting into the soil properly. The type of equipment used will determine the concentration required. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  • Asked by John from Holdenville, Ok
    10/17/2016
    Q
Should I apply Dylox 420 SL now or wait until Spring?
I have a grub and digging pest problem that is my destroying lawn.
    A

Dylox 420 SL Insecticide is best product for third instar grubs because it works later in the season and provides a longer effective application window.  It should be applied when they are actively feeding, so whatever time in your area that is, is when you should apply.  Using Dylox will not directly get rid of your digging animal problem though, such as moles. When you have digging activity in your yard it can in part be due to a plentiful food supply. Pests such as Moles will feed on grubs, worms and other similar insects living in your turf. Many people will use a product like Dylox to kill the grubs and insects the moles are feeding on in conjunction with using products designed to either trap, kill, or repel moles. (Moles' primary food source is earthworms, not grubs.) By removing their food source it helps deter them from your yard.  We have a great guide here for grubs as well.

  • Asked by Isai from Tulsa, Ok
    09/21/2016
    Q
Does Dylox 420 SL Insecticide affect Tall Fescue seed?
    A

Dylox 420 SL Insecticide  will not harm the lawn in any way even if it's a new seed. Dylox only last for 48 hours and is designed to knock back heavy populations of grubs and other pests in the lawn that are already heavily feeding on the lawn and doing damage. You would base when to put it down by how bad of a problem you have and how quickly you want to start killing off the insects in the soil that are feeding on the grass and roots.

    A

  • Asked by Jim from 72106

    Q
How much Dylox 420 SL do I use for grub control?
Is this correct? if I am using a 40 gal sprayer, do I want to use 6.9 oz of Dylox 420 for every 2 gals of water, is this correct. I am spraying about 2 1/2 acres, don't know how many sq ft it is. Thanks for your help
    A

Yes, for white grub control, you should use 6.9 fl oz of Dylox 420 SL Insecticide per 1000 sq ft in sufficient water. 1 Acre is 43,560 sq ft, so for 2.5 Acres, you would use a total of 751 oz of Dylox SL to treat that entire area.
