Effective Yellow Nutsedge Pre-emergents

I have a lawn in Kansas City of bluegrass and perennial sports turf rye mix (Estate Mix is the brand). I did a full kill/reseeding last fall and ended up with a bad case of yellow nutsedge, despite a thick lawn. Many of the post-emergents did harm to my grass. Is there an effective pre-emergent or winter product I can put on my yard to effectively control the yellow nutsedge? My lawn is an "estate mix" of bluegrass and perennial sports turf rye mix. Thank you.

Answer:

Unfortunately there is not a pre-emergent that is effective for nutsedge. Nutsedge can only be treated with a post emergent such as Sedgehammer. You may contact your local Master Gardener for recommendations that would be best for your county and region.
