    Q
Do I need a license to apply this to customers homes in Ohio?
I live in Ohio and am looking for an exempt product that is technically not a poison. Will this product allow me the freedom of not having to get certified or licensed through the state of Ohio?
    A

All of the products listed on our website (including the Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate) can only be applied without a license if you are applying to your own home or property.  If you are applying to other properties for profit, you must have an applicator's license.

    Q
Can Essentria IC3 be mixed with Mosquito Barrier for a greater punch?
    A

It is not necessary to mix Mosquito Barrier and Essentria IC3. They have two different modes of action and will work against each other.

If you are wanting to add a kick to Essentria IC3, we would recommend using Exciter Insecticide. It is a synergist and will help the product work faster.

  • Asked by Keith from Amherst, Ma

    Q
Is there an outside temperature that is too hot for applying Essentria IC3?
Also, does early morning dew affect it? I'm wondering about the optimal time and temperature for application of Essentria IC3.
    A

There is not a specific temperature requirement for applying Essentria IC3 except that temperatures should be above freezing to avoid damaging your spray equipment. Because this concentrate contains botanical oils, we would recommend avoiding spraying sensitive ornamental plants in the hottest part of the day or just before this time, most likely when temperatures may be over 90 degrees. This is just to reduce the possiblity of burning sensitive plants. You will usually see better residual spraying plants that are not already wet from dew or precipitation. We would not recommend spraying when the ground is very wet from precipitation, or when rainfall is expected within 24 hours.

    Q
Effective for bird mites in the home?
I'm looking for safer alternatives to the typical pesticides for treating bird mites in the home. Is Essentria IC3 known to be effective/ineffective for bird mites?
    A
Essentria IC3 has been discontinued by the manufacturer so it is unavailable for purchase. It is labeled to kill mites but does not specify which type of mites. We do carry a product called EcoVia EC that is labeled for various mites.

    Q
Is there an alternative to Essentria IC3 that is EPA FIFRA 25(b) exempt?
I was told that Essentria has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Can you recommend some equivalent alternatives for treating for mosquitoes using a backpack blower that are also EPA FIFRA 25(b) exempt?
    A
We would recommend using EcoVia EC as an alternative to Essentria IC3. It is made with various oils. You will mix 1-4 fl. oz. per gallon of water depending on the application site and/or insect. EcoVia EC can be used in a backpack sprayer. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  • Asked by Joseph
    02/27/2017
    Q
Can you mix Essentria IC3 insecticide with Suspend SC for roaches?
    A

Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate and Suspend SC are both insecticides and there would be no valid reason to use them mixed together, one is just natural and the other synthetic.  Applying multiple insecticides together does not make either work better and can actually have negative effects of making an area more repellent where insects will avoid the treated areas and neither can do the job of killing them then.  Instead it would be best to use either one along with a roach bait and insect growth regulator as directed in our guide here for roach treatments.

    Q
Can I eat herbs if they get sprayed accidentally with Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate?
My neighbor has hired a company to spray your product next to my organic herb and vegetable garden. My garden is intended to attract pollinators. What can I do to screen or minimize the damage to my garden and two small dogs. The advance notice form the company gives no time of day.
    A

Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate is not meant for use on edibles due to the inert ingredients in it. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly at 888-241-8088 for additional information on off label use.

  • Asked by Lara from Suffolk, Va
    04/17/2014
    Q
What do I do if this product was sprayed directly on my vegetable garden.
A mosquito control company used this product on my newly planted vegetable garden (I did not realize they were going to spray the garden and was assured that the product was all natural organic and safe.) Do I need to replace everything to be on the safe side? The broccoli, Brussel sprouts beets and radishes are not producing yet, but the lettuce spinach and kale would be consumed directly. I think they also sprayed my herbs. I don't plan to have them ever come back and I'm supposed to be getting a call from the corporate office bc the technicians have been trained to use it on the vegetable gardens. I can't imagine I'm the first person this has happened to. I just happened to be home that day to witness it and then did some research only to find out(to my astonishment) that it is not approved for use on vegetables. I was even more astonished to find that the mosquito company is ignorant to this. They say it only works for about 2 weeks and we had a solid day of rain the day after it was sprayed. I guess I just want to know what the best course of action would be with regard to the veggies and herbs. I don't want to consume anything that will harm my family in any way. Thanks!

  • Asked by Mike from Haymarket, Va
    06/27/2012
    Q
What product do you recommend to spray on boat canvas and boat tie down lines to get rid of spiders?
    A
The most popular spider control product for use around water is Essentria IC3. This is the most popular choice because it effective for spiders, kills most other insects (eliminating the spiders prey which will help keep new spiders from moving back into the area) and it safe to use around water. Most other insecticides are prohibited near the water because of the risk of contaminating the water and harming aquatic animals. You will need to repeat the application once a month through the warm season.

  • Asked by Matt from Montgomery, Tx

    Q
Can I use Eco Exempt G Granules near a lake or pond?
Can I use Eco Exempt G Granules near a lake or pond? Will it leech into the lake's environment and kill lake insects?
    A
Instead of the Eco Exempt G granules, which is not labeled as being safe for aquatic life, we recommend that you use Essentria IC3. Essentria IC3 is a flexible, broad-spectrum EPA FIFRA 25(b) exempt product and is organic compliant.  This means it is a very safe insecticide for use around your family and pets, but still very effective.  One of the best features of Essentria IC3 is that it has no aquatic toxicity.  This means you can apply near or over water for spiders, mosquitoes and other water dwelling pests with no worries about harming aquatic life.

  • Asked by Jeff from Lake Wylie, Sc
    01/14/2014
    Q
I am bidding on a project at a marina for spider control.
I am bidding on a project at a marina which has covered boat slips. There are 9 docks total, most averaging 65' long extending from the shore. Average height of covered dock ranges from 35' from dock floor to top of roof (inside). Boats are moored or on lifts. Most boats are covered with canvas snap down covers. Most boat are obviously fiberglass. Questions: 1) will this product cause any harm to either the boat surface (fiberglass) and/or the boat cover as the mist will fall down on the canvas cover and the boat itself? 2) what is the recommended mixture ratio to water for summertime heavy infestation spiders? 3) how often should I plan to retreat the docks 4) will IC3 have residual knockdown after application?
    A
Essentria IC3 should not pose any harm to any surface if applied as directed on the product label. As always, we suggest that you test a smaller inconspicuious area first.  The product should be mixed at 2 to 8 ounces per gallon of water and applied at the rate of 2 gallons per 1000 square feet or until area is thoroughly wet. Essentria IC3 does have an outdoor residual of 30 days and 90 days indoors.
