    Q
Is Essentria IC3 effective in eliminating bird mites?
    A
Essentria IC3 is not labeled to treat bird mites. It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for bird mites.  If you do indeed have bird mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead bird on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

    Q
Will Essentria IC3 kill carpet beetles?
I am looking for an all natural product to use to control carpet beetles as I have two small children. We have found damage in a closet as well as larvae in a bathroom (1 per day under the bath mat for a couple of weeks). We have cleaned the areas thoroughly and applied Essentria to the baseboards in the bathroom. Not only are we still finding larvae, we do not see any dead. Please advise.
    A

Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate is not specifically labeled for carpet beetles.

We would recommend using EcoVia EC. It is made with plant oils as well as is specifically labeled for carpet beetles.

  • Asked by Giuseppe from Staten Island, Ny

    Q
Could I use canola oil and liquid soap with Essentria IC3 in my Fogmaster?
Could my ingredients be water and canola oil and liquid soap? Someone told me to add canola oil to the mixture so the fog would stick to shrubs and bush and leaves. Also, would I be able to add some garlic mosquito barrier with it or will that make the Essentria ineffective?
    A

The oil used for diluting Essentria IC3 in fogging applications is mineral oil.  Cooking oils would not be recommended to be used and dish soaps would not, either.  The product is also already oil based and will stick to surfaces well as it contains an adjuvant already.  Mosquito Barrier would be applied in a separate application for repelling listed insects and would not affect the Essentria.

    Q
Is Essentria IC3 safe to use near lakes?
We live on lake front property and have trouble with fleas. We need a product to be eco friendly.
    A

Essentria IC3 can be applied near lakes and is labeled for fleas and many other insects. You will want to mow the lawn 1-2 days prior to application and treat once every 2 weeks until the fleas are gone. We recommend that you have the pets treated as well. We do carry flea control for your animals and for the interior of the home.

    Q
Can Gentrol IGR concentrate be mixed in with Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate?
Use for German roach infestation. Also have saltwater aquariums and kids.
    A

Gentrol IGR can be mixed in the same sprayer as Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate.  Children should be out of the area during treatment.  Aquariums should be covered.  It would also be recommended to use a bait when treating for german roaches.  We have a great guide here that might help as well.

    Q
Is there a mosquito control product that will not harm birds or mammals?
    A

Essentria IC3 would be a great choice for mosquito control if you are concerned about animals and people in the area. You will probably need to apply a bit more frequently than you would synthetic insecticides since the natural active ingredients will not hold up as well in the rain and sunlight. Larvicides are also an excellent part of a good mosquito control program, and these are not harmful to birds or mammals when used as directed. You can view more information and tips in our Mosquito Treatment Guide.

    Q
Is there a product that I can add to make IC3 last longer?
It seems to work great but I'm not getting much more than two or three weeks before mosquitos are back . Is there anything to help
    A

Due to the nature of Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate there is nothing that can make it last longer. You can mix in an IGR like Archer to help break down the reproductive cycle of many insects.

Will the alcohols in these natural products like Essentria IC3 damage the seals in our pressurized sprayers?
    A

There are no alcohols in the natural products like Essentria and none of the ingredients in the Essentria IC3 will harm your sprayer unless you leave mixed solution sitting in it for long periods of time or if you do not rinse the tanks out after use, which should be done with any product used.
