    Q
Is Fertilome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 good for Florida centipede lawns?
the Bonus S weed and feed for Southern lawns has 29-1-10, why so different from Ferti-Lome 15-0-15? If I weed separately then would the Ferti-Lome mixture be a better short term and long term fertilizing? They both say for southern centipede lawns... Please advise, even if it's a product not the Ferti-Lome. Thank you.
    A

We are not familiar with the Bonus S Weed and Feed 26-1-10 as we do not carry this product and cannot make an accurate comparison. What we can tell you is that the Fertilome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 is used twice a year, once in spring and once in fall, to give season long nourishment of your lawn. It will not provide any weed control, so if you are looking for a product that will provide a little of both, you could use the Fertilome Centipede Weed and Feed 15-0-15. The numbers at the end on both products stand for the amounts of different fertilizing nutrients your yard needs to stay green, so the amount will be the same on both bags. However the Weed and Feed also has other ingredients that will provide post emergent (weeds that have already come up) control of pesky weeds in your lawn. Please see the product label on each for application instructions for your yard and your needs.

    Q
I have not fertilized at all this year. Centipede/st Augustine mix. Mobile, Al, very hot temps. Fertilize?t
    A
Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 would be a great product if your lawn needs fertilizer and now would be a great time to apply. However, we do recommend not applying during high noon temperatures as you could burn your grass. The best application method is to water the lawn a day before putting the granules down. This will help with the heat stress your lawn is experiencing right now.

  • Asked by Bruce from Myrtle Beach South Carolina

    Q
I used Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 in March my yard is yellow again can I put it down again now?
    A

There is no max use rate for Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 so you can treat 3-4 times a year. We recommend getting a soil test done in case the yellowing is being caused by something other than a nutrient deficiency. The yellowing could also be a sign of disease or fungus.

    Q
What setting do I use on a rotary spreader to apply Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15?
    A

You would apply the Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 at a rate of 4 lbs per 1,000 square feet. Unfortunately we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo and the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their bag. Due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates. Please view our How to Cailibrate Your Spreader Video for a great tutorial.

    Q
What setting on the Scott's Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader when applying Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15?
    A

You would apply the Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 at a rate of 4 lbs per 1,000 square feet. Since the Scott’s Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader is not listed on the Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 product label, we would recommend contacting the spreader's manufacturer for the correct setting. The other option would be to calibrate your spreader yourself in which we have our How to Calibrate Your Spreader Video that walks you through step by step on how to do this.
