    Q
How do you change the bulb in the Flyweb insect trap? No amount of pulling seems to remove the bulb.

The bulb for the FlyWeb Fly Light is removed by simply pulling on the bulb.  Try rocking the bulb side to side as you are pulling on it.

    Q
Can you see the dead flies from the front of the Flyweb Fly Light unit or are they concealed?
    A
The flies can be seen on the glue board behind the Flyweb Fly Light when a large amount has been caught. One way to make the flies less noticeable is to choose the black glue boards for the unit rather than the white, as they will blend in and not be so obvious to passers by. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
I live in an apartment and have mosquitoes inside, there is no standing water anywhere, help!
I don't know where they are getting in.
    A
You should use the Flyweb Fly Light for any flying insects indoors.  We have no idea where the source would be, but for the ones that are inside the fly light works great.  If they look like small gnats, you may want to read about drain flies or fruit flies, they may be one of those and not mosquitoes. Please contact your local cooperative extension for a pest identification.

    Q
How often do I need to change the glue boards in the Flyweb Fly Light?
    A
There is not a set time limit on when to change the boards. You should change them whenever they get full of insects and not much of the sticky adhesive is available for new insects or if the glueboard gets too dusty and is no longer sticky. We would recommend checking them every 2-3 weeks and just changing the board as needed. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Asked by Rody
    05/30/2011
    Q
Is the Flyweb unit wall mountable?
    A
The FlyWeb has a plug built into the back of the fly light, sort of like a plug in flashlight.  So it plugs in any normal size wall socket anywhere in the house.  It is not meant to mount on a wall in a place where a electrical outlet is not presently located.

  • Asked by Linda from Illinois

    Q
Will the Flyweb Fly Light work if most of my outlets are near the floor?
These flies keep coming in around the windows and are all over the floor. I vacuum, and they begin coming back in ! Under each window, it's littered with dead or almost dead flies & sometimes lady bugs. I had Orkin, but that didn't help. The house is only 16 years old.
    A

Yes, the Flyweb Fly Light will work if they are placed in outlets that are near the floor. The flies are attracted to the UV lights. Generally, you will plug them directly into a standard outlet, ideally at counter height where the flies would enter the home. Each light will treat 600 sq. ft. or 20 lineal feet. It sounds like you may be dealing with cluster flies in addition to the lady bugs, both of which are overwintering pests which must be prevented in late Summer and Fall with residual insecticides on the structure where these pests enter. Please see our Overwintering Kit for more information and for products we recommend to use to combat these pests.

    Q
Can you plug the flylight upside down?
The location of my outlet (under the cabinet) only allows me to plug the flylight upside down. Do you see any problems with this? So far it works just fine.
    A
As long as the outlet fits, there is no reason that the flyweb flylight will not work upside down.

  • Asked by Janice from Houston, Texas

    Q
How do I get rid of gnats in my apartment that came in with plants that i have since gotten rid of?
    A
There are a couple of steps you can take to get rid of the gnats. Without knowing for certain if they were just fungus gnats (if that were the case they should die off within a few days after the plants are removed from the home) or some type of other fly you will have to take general steps. Limit as many moisture areas in the home as possible and try to dry sinks out each night before bed and keep counters clean and dry. Most gnats and flies will look for and need a moisture area to breed and thrive in so eliminating as many of those areas as possible will help kill them off. You can use a general space spray product like Microcare to knock down any flying around in the home and kill them safely on contact anywhere they are. You can also put one of our FlyWeb Fly Lights up in the rooms you have the most activity or signs of them in. Its a simple fly light that plugs right into any standard outlet much like a glade air freshener and has a single bulb and glue board to catch them on and as the glueboard is filled you can dispose of it and replace it with a new one.

  • Asked by Bill from Melbourne, Fl

    Q
Will your light trap no see ums? My office is by a lake, and they have gotten into my office.
    A
Yes, the Flyweb Fly Light works for flying insects such as noseeums. We would also recommend Bifen IT as a general pesticide to spray inside the office. This dries clear and has a residual of up to 3 months indoors so this will protect against future issues, should they occur. You would spray this around the baseboards and cracks and crevices inside the room. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Does the bulb dry the adhesive. This Bug Light is located in a finished basement room where between a/c and heat the ambient temperature is approximately 69 degrees .
    A
We are unsure which fly light you are referring to? Generally, insect glueboards will last up to 6 weeks, but should be checked every 2-3 and changed if filled up.

Flyweb Fly Light will catch cluster flies.  No, the Flyweb will not attract bats. To eradicate and prevent upi also want to use a product like 565 Plus in cracks and Crevices. Also, be sure to seal up any areas where the cluster flies or bats could get in.

The Flyweb Fly Light can trap stink bugs if they happen to come in contact with the glueboard located inside the light. We do not know if stinkbugs are actually attracted by the light like other insects however.

    Q
Is the Flyweb Fly Light available with a D.C. power source?
I wanted to trap moths in rice fields where there is no A.C. power source.
    A

Unfortunately, the Flyweb Fly Light only comes with an AC outlet. You certainly could use a product like the Catchmaster Glostick Flying Insect Trap (918) which is battery operated, and would catch moths as well.  Please be advised that we are only able to ship within the U.S. at this time.

    Q
Can you plant or take care of a Venus fly trapper at home?
    A

That is a question that we just do not have an answer to. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to seek advice on what plants would thrive in your region. In the meantime, if you are looking for a fly trap that we KNOW will work in your region, take a look at the FlyWeb Fly Light. All you have to do is plug it in, no planting required!
