How do I control Mosquitos in a small back yard in NYC?

I have a backyard about 16'x16' with a solid fence about 6' high in all directions and want to be able to sit outside without the threat of mosquitos. What is the best way to control the adult population on an ongoing basis. The patio floor is made of concrete tiles that are raised to provide space to drain water underneath. Presumably there is always some water standing but it is not possible to eliminate this. Also there is a small water fountain that contains standing water. This can be treated with chlorine. Is there a spray that you recommend to cover the floor and Walsh which will repel or kill mosquitos?

Answer:

You could use FenvaStar EcoCap mixed with Martins IGR to control the mosquitoes in your yard. The FenvaStar is a residual that will kill any mosquito or other bug that comes into contact with its surface for at least 30-60 days outdoors. The Martins is birth control to keep the current populations from reproducing and continuing the infestation as quickly. You can mix both products together in the same gallon of water and spray on most outdoor surfaces with the exception of furniture and edible vegetation.
