Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate

Image Kills Nutsedge is a selective, post-emergent herbicide that can be used on southern turf grass and selected ornamentals. It can be applied year-round. Its patented one-of-a-kind formula works by inhibiting the weeds' process of photosynthesis, which essentially starves them to death. Growth inhibition begins within a few hours of application, with yellowing occurring 1-2 weeks later. Full results are seen within 3-5 weeks. If necessary, a second application can be made after 6 weeks. Image Kills Nutsedge targets tough southern weeds including purple and yellow nutsedge, henbit, crabgrass, dollarweed, and dandelion. For established lawns only. Not for use on cool season grasses.

Dos and Don'ts for Image Kills Nutsedge:

  • DO read the complete label and follow all directions carefully.
  • DO use on established Bermuda, Centipede, St. Augustinegrass (except for winter control) and Zoysia turfgrasses.
  • DO use IMAGE Kills Nutsedge to control weeds like Purple and Yellow Nutsedge, Wild Onion and Garlic, Dollarweed, Field Sandbur and others (see label for complete list).
  • DO apply to emerged Wild Onion and Garlic.
  • DO mow Wild Onion and Garlic 1 to 2 weeks after treatment to improve control and lawn appearance.
  • DO expect to see gradual control of treated weeds. Weeds will slowly disappear 3 to 4 weeks after spraying.
  • DO expect to see temporary discoloration or slowed growth of weeds, which is an indication that IMAGE Herbicide is working to control weeds.
  • DO enjoy the control of tough southern weeds without ugly brown out.
  • Do water in 1 to 7 days after application.
  • DON'T apply around shrubs or perennials not specifically listed on the label as tolerant ornamentals.
  • DON'T apply around annual bedding plants or in vegetable gardens.
  • DON'T apply to newly planted or sodded lawns.
  • DON'T reseed or winter overseed turfgrasses for 1½ months after treatment.
  • DON'T use on St. Augustinegrass for winter control.
  • DON'T overlap when spraying.
  • DON'T mow within 48 hours after application.
  • DON'T use on cool season grasses

By Vince in Hillsdale, New Jersey on 07/14/2016

My lawn was sited to have NUTSEDGE and a landscaper quoted me an astronomical price to get rid of it. I decided to try an IMAGE product. I followed the directions and my NUTGRASS is gone. I saved much money and revived my lawn. This is a fantastic product at a reasonable price.

By Jim in Wake Village, TX on 10/15/2016

I have fought Virginia Button weed and other terrible weeds, with little success. The other herbicides, just slowed down weeds but came back. Image is killing the weeds and not harming my grass.

3 of 5 stars  Hasn't done it yet
By John in Pinehurst, NC on 09/05/2016

Have a pretty bad season for nutsedge in my Bermuda lawn this year. Tried the Image product that you attach to hose and that didn't kill it. Then got this concentrate for 1 gallon spayer to spot spray direct on nutsedge. Unfortunately 2-3 weeks later after 3 separate applications, that nasty weed is still present. Directions followed closely and also added spreader sticker. This nutsedge is tough. If there are any products out there which work better, I'd like to know. Meantime, I'll keep applying this one.

QCan I, or cant I use Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate on St. Augustine grass?
The label indicates that this product is safe for St. Augustine grass but there is a response in the questions section that suggest that this is not suitable.

AImage Kills Nutsedge Concentrate can be used on St. augustine grass per product label. The manufacturer states that Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate can be applied to established St. Augustine Grass not to Floratam.

QCan I spray Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate on the winter weeds of my bermudagrass in January?

A

Image Kills Nutsedge should not be applied for winter control of weeds on dormant turf including Bermuda per the product label. Our most popular general weed control product that is selective -†meaning it will not harm your turf grass, but it will kill your broadleaf weeds -†is End Run. End Run is labeled for just about any weed you could have and will not harm your grass.†Best of all, it comes with a surfactant already mixed in the product so you do not have to purchase and mix a surfactant separately like you do with most of the other herbicides that we sell. It is labeled for dormant turgrasses, too.

QCan I use Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate on Fine Fescue in Tennessee?

AThe product label for Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate does state the it would harm Tall Fescue but does not mention Fine Fescue.  It is really more for warm season grasses like

Bermudagrass, Buffalograss, Centipedegrass, St. Augustinegrass and Zoysiagrass.  For treating nutsedge in Fine Fescue we would recommend using Sedgehammer instead.

QWhat can I use to kill bahia and wild grasses in my Floratam St. Augustine turf?

A

Image Kills Nutsedge is the only product we have listed for controlling bahiagrass and it is safe for other species of St. Augustine. †Floratam is not listed on the label,†but there are also no precautions against using on it. †We would warn that while it should not kill your grass, it may hurt and discolor it for a time.

QCan I use Image Nutsedge killer on Bermudagass that was overseeded with established perennial ryegrass?
I live just south of Abilene, Texas. The perennial ryegrass has been dormant all summer but is now starting to sprout up. Should I wait until next summer when the perennial ryegrass goes dormant again? Or will the Image Nutsedge killer kill the perennial ryegrass anyway? My bermudagrass lawn is heavily infested with nutsedge.

A

No, Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate should not be used on lawns that were recently overseeded with ryegrass. This product is labeled to eliminate perennial ryegrass and will kill it.

QCan I use Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate to kill Torpedo grass?

A

Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate is not labeled to kill torpedo grass.† Unfortunately, most of the herbicides we carry will only suppress torpedograss for a short time. In most cases, it is recommended to spot treat the torpedo grass with a non-selective herbicide such as†Round Up Quick Pro, and then replant in the treated areas in a couple of weeks when the torpedograss is gone.†

QCan I spray Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate over monkeygrass to kill Kentucky 31 blend?

A

Image Kills Nutsedge Concentrate†only mentions on the product label that it is safe for Bermudagrass, St. Augustinegrass, Buffalograss, Centipedegrass, or Zoysiagrass lawns. Since Kentucky Bluegrass is not listed as a tolerant grass blend, it is possible using Image Kills Nutsedge will injure†it. We would recommend doing a test application to see how the Image will affect the Kentucky Bluegrass before treating a large area.
