Schroyer from Se Colorado writes

Is Hi-Yield 55% Malathion Insecticide Spray good for elm leaf beetle?

Is it long lasting or will it only kill the beetle "on contact" ?

Answer:

No,  Hi-Yield 55% Malathion Insecticide Spray is not labeled for elm leaf beetle. This is a contact kill for other pests though. We would recommend using something like Monterey Once A Year Insect Control II. It is labeled for elm leaf beetles and is used once a year around the drip zone of your tree. The mixing ratio is 1 fl. oz. per inch of distance around the trunk at breast height.
