    Q
Will the Jecta be absorbed into the wood, saturating it?
I have a joist with drywood termites and have drilled a number of holes into it injecting them with Jecta. Where the holes intersect the termite tunnels it fills the cavities with solution, but where it doesn’t, it stays in the holes, not being absorbed into the surrounding wood. Will it eventually be absorbed into the joist? If so how long should I expect this to take?
    A

Jecta  will over time dissapate into the wood. It will not saturate it though. This came happen over the course of a few months.

    Q
Do I need an applicator for Jecta or do I use a caulk gun? How large would a hole need to be to inset Jecta?
Dry wood termites in door trim that is stained
    A

Jecta should be applied with a caulking gun. There is not a specific hole size this product should be applied in, however, the label does give more specifics about how much should be applied in various size holes.

    Q
If I have termites in a piece of wood furniture, can I put it in a closed trailer and use a bomb?
    A

Simply bombing may not get to the wood boring pest inside the wood. If the furniture is not stained or painted, you can apply Boracare direclty to the wood. If not, you can also inject a product called Jecta. Jecta is a ready-to-use injectable borate gel used by pest management professionals to protect sealed or inaccessible wood from termites and other wood destroying organisms. It is typically used to reach places where Bora-Care cannot be applied effectively.

    Q
How long does it take for Jecta to work?
I'm applying this to control old house borers. I can listen to hear them in the wood. How long should it take for the Jecta to address them and the noise to stop?
    A

Jecta  takes time to spread through the wood from where it was injected.  It can be up to 30 days.  Once insects have ingested the treated wood it can take up to 24 hours or so for them to die.

  • Asked by Rochelle from Hephzibah, Ga

    Q
Can I use Jecta by removing the caulking around the window instead of drilling, and then reapply the caulk?
Do you have a better product that can be used around the window?
    A

Jecta is a ready-to-use formulation of Boracare that is designed to be used on wood that is already finished or that may be hard to reach to treat with Boracare. If a windowsill or frame has wood-boring beetles and the wood is raw, then it would be best to treat the wood with Boracare. You could then paint, seal, or stain the wood after treatment. If the wood is finished and you were to remove caulking, then you would still need to drill into the wood in order to apply the Jecta to the infested spots.

  • Asked by Jenni from Canada
    10/28/2013
    Q
A recently built loft bed has tiny holes appearing in it, would Jecta be suitable?
The bed has been recently sanded and stained. I'd prefer not to have to re-sand and reseal. Also can I order from Canada?
    A
It is important to positively identify what insect may be causing the problem. If you find it is an insect that is listed on the Jecta label you can drill into the wood and inject the product. We do not ship to Canada at this time.

Jecta is a completely natural product and does not give off any vapors or harmful materials once applied and injected into the wood. There are no concerns with using it in bedroom furniture you use on a regular basis or are around at all.

  • Asked by Ian from Bermuda

    Q
What is the shelf life for Jecta, unopened and once it's opened?
Can one cartridge be used for multiple jobs, days apart, or once opened will it go off? Is there a discount cost of multiple purchases?
    A

Per the manufacturer, Jecta can be stored unopened for a long time, approximately 5 years or more, in a cool, dry place. Once the product is opened, the shelf life is one year. For best results and to prevent clogging, make sure to clean out the caulking gun after each use. Be sure to replace the cap on the Jecta tube and store in a cool, dry place so it doesn’t solidify.

Sometimes we are able to offer a discount, other than the price break, depending on how many tubes you’ll be ordering. We recommend giving us a call to determine if it will be possible in your case. We are open M – F, 9 am – 5 pm EST.

    Q
Is Jecta best to use for flying termites on exposed beams in a home?
    A

You can use Tempo SC Ultra to target swarming termites around the outside perimeter of the home (above ground termites) and use Bora-Care to treat the exposed wood beams. Jecta could be used to spot treat wood that is already painted or sealed.

  • Asked by Pat from Amite La
    05/24/2021
    Q
How much Jecta would I need to repair a 15 year old cedar gazebo with rot in the bottom boards?
    A

The amount of Jecta needed will vary depending on what size drill bit you are using and how deep into the wood you drill. The product label provides great instructions in the charts to help determine how much Jecta you will need. You can use google to convert ounces into cc's to determine how many tubes you will need once you calculate the information from the charts.
