    Q
Is the dust applied by just sprinkling it on the lawn/garden and then watered?
How exactly does the dispenser tube work?
    A
The Milky Spore Tube Dispensers are great for treating larger areas with more convenience. You would simply pour the Milky Spore Powder into the Dispenser Tube, break open the seal at the bottom of the tube and apply the Milky Spore Powder in a spot application: one teaspoon of powder every four feet in rows four feet apart to achieve a checkerboard pattern of spots throughout the treated area. Once you have completed the application, you should water in the powder in all of the treated area for about 15 minutes. Only one application is required, but may take one to four years to gain optimum control.

    Q
Do you have to wear protective clothing when you apply Milky Spore powder? Are the spores harmful to the lungs?
    A
Milky Spore Powder itself is not toxic. However, Milky Spore contains chalk and a powder carrier. Care should be taken not to get any dust in one's eyes as it is an irritant. You should wear protective clothing and a mask to prevent the powder from getting in your lungs.

Can you use Milky Spore Powder more then every 4 feet by 4 feet?

The Lawn & Garden Dispenser Tube can be used to spread the Milky Spore Powder closer than 4 x 4 feet rows, it would allow the spores to multiple faster but would also be more expensive.

  • Asked by Roberta from Cranberry Twp, Pa

    Q
How deep do you need to place the Milky Spore?
I have a lot of clay in my lawn and sometimes have trouble getting a 4-5 inch soil sample.
    A

You should use the Milky Spore Lawn and Garden Dispenser for the correct application method. You will apply one shake of the dispenser in spots every four feet in rows four feet apart. This is considered a checkerboard pattern. The Milky Spore is then activated with watering or rainfall.  Milky Spore can be applied any time the ground is not frozen. That being said, the spore can only reproduce and spread when grubs eat it. If there are no grubs at the time of application the Milky Spore will not be able to reproduce and move through the property.
