Details

Lawn moss is a common problem in many areas. Moss thrives in damp, shady lawns where the soil is acidic and drainage is poor. Under these conditions moss can spread into areas where grass once grew. If steps are not taken, moss can take over a lawn. Fortunately, moss can be quickly killed with applications of MOSS OUT! LAWN GRANULES. Killing the moss gives grasses a chance to “reclaim” the lawn. Since grass may be slow to fill in bare spots, we suggest reseeding with a quality Lilly Miller grass seed. MOSS OUT! LAWN GRANULES has another benefit: It turns grass a deep green, the color most of us want for our lawns. MOSS OUT! LAWN GRANULES has 10% Iron to kill lawn moss and green the grass. Because no fertilizer is added you get moss control and greening without excessive growth that requires frequent mowing.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
For household use only. Not for use indoors. For best results, apply this product when the lawn is moist. Mow lawn to expose existing moss prior to application. This allows the granules to fall through the grass to the soil and go to work. Water in to hasten the moss killing action and greening process. Apply at the rate of 20 lbs. per 4,000 square feet for heavy moss infestations or 20 lbs. per 5,000 square feet for lighter moss infestations. One pound of this product is equal to approximately 1 ½ cups.

IRON WILL STAIN. USE THIS PRODUCT ON LAWNS ONLY. KEEP THIS PRODUCT OFF SURFACES SUCH AS SIDEWALKS, PATIOS, WOODEN DECKS, DRIVEWAYS AND CLOTHING. Sweep concrete surfaces immediately to prevent staining. If concrete is wet when contact occurs, staining may be impossible to prevent.

SETTING YOUR LAWN SPREADER

THESE SETTINGS ARE A GUIDE. They were determined by landscape professionals using new spreaders. The condition of your spreader, your walking speed, the roughness of the lawn, and even the humidity can affect how fast the product comes out. Watch the flow rate. If product appears to be coming out either slower or faster than you are covering the lawn, adjust the setting. Close the spreader when filling, turning or stopping.

    Seems to work OK

    By Bryan on 04/09/2016

Applied this product about three weeks ago per the directions from the manufacturer. To date I've noticed some sections of the yard where moss is turning brown/black and dying. Other sections seem to have had to effect. I will likely wait a few more weeks and then apply the liquid version to the tougher spots.

    DIsappointing

    By Rob on 04/13/2017

Applied this product in late March and according to instructions. (Measured yard and product, applied at heavy rate, watered it in, etc.) Saw some damage the next day wherever a granule had fallen. Almost a month later, those small black spots had spread to larger spots up to about the size of a quarter, but I never came anywhere near to effectively killing off the moss. While I did see some damage, it was very confined. Have used the liquid version of this product in the past with better success and I recommend others compare the two application methods before investing much money on the products.

Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules

    By David on 06/30/2020

I have to say this product works. The moss has been creeping in on the north side of our house for the last few years. I have 2 trees on that side and noticed the zoysia thinning. I new I needed to try to get rid of the moss and saw this product on the DoMyOwn site. I ordered a bag and put the 1st round out with a small hand seed spreader. I waited and let mother nature water it in. I went and looked about 4 days after that rain and the moss started turning black. That was about 3 weeks ago and I just applied another round. This should finish the moss off and help the zoysia out.

Q
Ready to use "moss out", but what setting for light moss? product is "Scotts edgeguard MINI" spreader
A
Lilly Miller Moss Out Lawn Granules is to be applied at the rate of 20 lbs. per 4,000 square feet for heavy moss infestations or 20 lbs. per 5,000 square feet for lighter moss infestations. One pound of this product is equal to approximately 1 ½ cups.  If your spreader settings go from 1 to 10 (1 letting out the least and 10 letting out the most) you typically want to be around a 3 setting.  If your spreader goes from 1 to 20, you should probably be around a 6 or 7 setting.  The goal is to just run out of product when you are done walking the 1000 square feet.  One person may walk faster than someone else, so they may place It on a higher setting than someone that walks slower.
