    I returned this product

    By Cheri on 01/27/2012

    Verified Purchase

I returned this product after reading all the warnings on the can. It does not appear to be safe AT ALL to use inside though this was not stated in the advertisement on the web site. While it may kill the drugstore beetles that I am trying to get rid of, it also appears to be harmful to pets and humans so I certainly can't use it in my home. I think this information should have been stated on the website.

    Microcare

    By Sharon on 10/05/2011

I purchased this product to treat an infestation of no-see-ums (biting midges) in my home. However after spraying the rooms and leaving for 15 minutes I found that they were still airborne in these rooms. After retreating I had the same result. I know Pyrethrin is supposed to be effective for this but wonder if the minimal dose (.50%) is too low. I was not pleased to see that you can retreat on a daily basis as that indicates it has no long term effects

    Microcare

    By Charles on 10/24/2012

    Verified Purchase

The stuff I order for the Noseeums, does not work. In fact all that I sprayed is more toxic to me and my wife than the noseeums. Those critters are still eating us alive. It was effective on a few spiders and other crawling insects but I purchased this stuff for one thing only, noseeums as what was recommended to me by CSR.

    Microcare Aerosol

    By Anonymous on 06/05/2013

    Verified Purchase

Unfortunately, this product does not work. It does not kill or get rid of Noseeums. I have tried it 3 times. I sprayed it all over the window frames, doors, etc. Up into the air in vast quantities and left the apartment for many hours. The Pest Control Guy also uses this product. But to no avail. I wish I could find something that is not toxic and works.

    By Aprile on 11/26/2014

Did not work. This was recommended on your online chat. She was wrong! This product did absolutely nothing to get rid of midges (noseeums). Do not waste your money!

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
We are sorry that you have been unhappy with your purchase. It is almost impossible to control midges in mud or water outside, but you may use the Microcare or other residual products on window screens and around windows, door frames, and other areas where these insects may enter the structure. You may also want to use a fly light in residential areas such as the FlyWeb Fly Light: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/flyweb-fly-light-p-436.html Please also see our page on Midge Control to assist you with identification and treatment: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/midges-c-532.html As always, we are happy to assist you by telephone at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST

Q
What is the best product to kill winged flying ants in a bathroom?

Most found in the tub. For sure they are ants not termites.

A
The winged flying ants will usually die in short order on their own because they are not able to fly off and secure a new nesting area for themselves. If you want to speed along the process you can use Microcare, a pyrethrin based aerosol. You should note that winged ants indoors most likely indicates an ant infestation somewhere in the home or under the home. You should carefully inspect the bathroom and try to find where the ants are emerging. You may even try to get a trail to start by placing a notecard with a dab of peanut butter and a dab of honey. Do NOT disturb the ant trail. By getting the ants to start a trail you will be able to figure out where the ants are entering into the bathroom and you will be able to directly treat the area with a product like Phantom or with ant baits. Please take a few minutes to read our article Getting rid of ants to learn more.

Q
Will it kill no-see-ums?

My husband bought a used fabric chair from the Salvation Army and we have been bothered ever since with something that bites and flutters around our legs. We done everything that we know and whatever it is, it's still there. Will this product take care of our problem?

A
Microcare is labeled for no-see-ums but it is very doubtful that you are dealing with no-see-ums. No-see-ums usually develop and live in areas by mud, sand, and debris around the edges of ponds, springs, lakes, creeks, and in tree holes or on slime-covered bark. We recommend that you contact your local Cooperative Extension Office and ask to speak to the entomologist and request an insect ID. The entomologist will tell you how to gather a sample for identification purposes. Trying to treat for an insect without a clear idea of what you are treating for often leads to treatment failure. If you want to try Microcare anyway you will need to spray the tufts, seams, folds and in between the cushions only. You can also use Microcare as a space spray to help get rid of flying insects in the room.

Q
Does it kill wasps & hornets? Is it safe for fish(especially Koi)?
A
Microcare would not be the best product for wasps or bees.  It does not allow you to keep your distance when treating them and would not kill fast enough.  Also, all insecticides are very detrimental to all types of fish, including koi fish.  You should not use any around them.  We would recommend Wasp Freeze for treating any types of wasps or hornets.  Of course you would not want to use it around any fish or bodies of water.

Q
Will Microcare and Gentrol Aerosol IGR work for drain flies?

I've just started using Microcare with Gentrol Aerosol IGR for a really bad drain fly infestation. Is this a good combination and how long until I see results?

A
Microcare is a good product to knock down the adult flies that are flying around the kitchen, and Gentrol Aerosol IGR is a good product to help with future drain flies from hatching.  However, drain flies breed in organic "gunk" that is down the drain.  You need something to put down the drain that will eat this gunk away or it will continue to be a problem.  This is where drain gel comes in.  The Microcare and Gentrol will put a band aid on the problem but you will continue to battle them.  We have a Drain Fly Kit just for your situation.  Drain gel poured down the drain every night for about a week will eat away at the "gunk" and eliminate the source of the problem.  So this does not happen again, you should use drain gel once a month for maintenance on your drains so the "gunk" does not build up again.
