Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide previously known as  Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide is very effective in controlling plant diseases such as Pythophthora, downy mildew, pythium, black spot, root rot, anthracnose, and more. It contains mono- and di-potassium salts of phosphorous acid and it functions as both a curative and preventive treatment to plants. It may be applied as a foliar spray, soil drench, by soil incorporation, through basal bark treatment and as a bare root dip. It can be used in trees, turf, ornamentals, in landscapes and interiorscapes, and bedding plants.

UPDATE: Product has a new name but it is the same exact product.

5 of 5 stars  Agri-fos for pansy and snapdragon rot
By Larry in Modesto,California on 12/18/2012
    Verified Purchase

We plant a lot of pansies and snapdragons in the fall. Stem rot and root rot can be a problem at times, especially in overly wet soils caused by long stretches of rainy weather or if the sprinklers are over watering. Treatment with this systemic product has given us 100% positive results in a test treatment of 20 flats of annuals planted in several different soils and locations. It worked as both a preventative and a curative in some flowers that had disease prior to treatment. This stuff looks like a keeper.

5 of 5 stars  It is really works
By Maria in NC on 06/27/2016

I have a problem with ceder rust on my apple trees, bacterial leaf spot disease on my cherry and peach trees. My trees were severely affected! After first application all symptoms were stopped, but in two weeks symptoms have returned on remain foliage, so I had to make another application. In two more weeks all my trees showed up more new healthy growth and today, on the middle of summer, all my trees are absolutely healthy and, it seems, happy! I should use this product in early spring, and I'm definitely going to do it next year.

3 of 5 stars  No opinion yet
By in Cleveland, Mississippi on 05/31/2013

I am giving this product the benefit of doubt since I can't prove its performance yet. It will take a couple of months though when it gets really hot in the summer in Mississipp. My italian cypress trees have a fungus and I read where this product and Cleary 3336f will heal it. I am still waiting to see the results.

QDoes Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide help apple tree root rot?
I have lost a couple of fruit trees in the past and I think I have a couple more to start the same symptoms. The ones that act sick also have a little fire blight. Will this product help me?

AYes, Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide is labeled for root rot of apple trees. You would apply the Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide as a foliar spray using 0.5-1 oz per gallon of water.  You should apply as a one to two month interval between treatments. Under high disease pressure use higher application rate and shorter spray interval. Please be sure to spray thoroughly and get complete coverage.

Daconil is not working.

A

Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide is not labeled to be used for black spot on aspens.  Daconil works best when applied in the spring before leaf spots occur for prevention.  There is a great article here from the USDA on the most common causes that might be helpful.

QWhat is the mixing ratio of Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide to do a soil drench for avocado tree with root rot?

A

When using Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide for root rot on avocado trees, the methods to treat are either a tree injection or a foliar spray. For a tree injection, you will inject trees at spring flush maturity. Repeat treatment in February or March. Drill holes 3/16 inch (5 mm) in diameter and 1 inch (25 mm) to 2 inches (50 mm) deep with slight downward angle in trunk. Place syringes in the main trunk of the tree and space evenly around the circumference of the trunk. Suitable for use with Chemjet tree injectors, Ag-murf gun, or hydraulic tree injection. Do not prune back trees before injection process as burning of new growth may occur. Do not inject trees in winter months. Do not cut back the canopy of injected trees. Do not add any other material, other than water , to AGRI-FOS Systemic Fungicide by trunk injection. Do not inject more liquid in a lesser number of syringes than directed. The rates for application are as follows:

Skeletal trees 1st year: ¼ fl. oz. undiluted product per yard of canopy diameter.
Other situations: 1/8 fl. oz. diluted with ½ fl. oz. of water per yard of canopy diameter.

For a foliar spray, the mixing rate is 1/3 fl oz per gallon of water. You will spray to run off at 2 – 2½ gallons of spray solution per adult tree. Start applications in spring, up to 4 applications a year at two-month intervals. Ensure thorough coverage.

QCan Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide be used to treat St. Augustine grass ?
Will this product work to treat lawn fungus like brown patch or take all patch ?

A

Monterey Garden Phos Systemic Fungicide is only labeled to control Pythium in turfgrass so would not be recommended for brown patch or take all.

We would recommend our Eagle 20 EW Fungicide. It is labeled for Take-All Patch in your turf, and you would use 2.4 ounces per 1000 sq/ft in no less than 2 gallons of water. Label states for treatment of Take-All Patch: To reduce the severity, make 1 to 2 fall applications in September and October or when night temperatures drop to 55°F, and 1 to 2 spring applications in April and May depending upon local recommendations. You can see the full product label here.

There is a study from the University of Minnesota extension recommending K-Phite (phosphorous acid) to treat it. I believe that your product meets that description. I see nothing on the label about it.
