For Monterey Insect Control, must the ground be bare or can this be used on grassy soil

  • Asked by Mimi from Lafayette, La

    Q
I have 8 crepe myrtle trees with multi-trunks. Is it reasonable that I would need 4 gallons?
trying to make sure I am measuring these multi trunk trees correctly. Some have 5+ trunks.
    A
When using Monterey Once A Year Insect Control II, you will measure the distance in inches of each tree trunk and add them together. You will then multiply this total by 0.75 to get the required number of ounces of product to apply. You will need to make sure you are using this in at least 3-5 gallons of water to ensure that the product is getting into the roots properly.

    Q
Can you eat citrus fruit that was on the tree when the Monterey once a year insect systemic?
Our grapefruit tree had over 400 fruit fully matured when the tree was diagnosed with a fungus and treated with the insect systemic in November. We are beginning to harvest and eat the fruit. I am worried that it might be destroying our gut bacteria! Please help.
    A

Yes, you can harvest and eat fruit from trees that have been treated with Monterey Once A Year Insect Control II. It would have no effect on humans or destroy natural bacteria we have in our bodies just the pests that are on the label. However, this product does not have fruit flies or citrus on the label. I would recommend that you contact the product manufacturer Monterey Lawn & Garden to see what there recommendation would be. They can be reached at 559-499-2100.
