Mosquito Barrier

Mosquito Barrier is an all natural, super strong, liquid garlic based formula that will keep pests like gnats, mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and ants out of your yard, golf courses, parks and fields. It does not contain chemicals so it is environmentally safe and safe for animals and humans. It will keep pests away for 24 hours - up to a month. It contains garlic that is stronger and more powerful than those found at a grocery store. Mosquitoes are not tolerant to garlic - so one spraying of this product will keep them away. The smell of the garlic juice will become unnoticeable to humans within a few minutes, but to mosquitoes, they can smell it 10,000 times more than humans. Mosquito Barrier can be mixed with canola oil and water to coat standing water to form a thin film of natural oil that will kill the larvae developing in the water.

Overall, Mosquito Barrier is a three way attack:

1) Kills the adult mosquitoes.

2) The garlic coated plants will keep mosquitoes out of the area.

3) It will suffocate any mosquito larvae in standing water - under decks, puddles, water in tin cans, or depressions in lawns.

5 of 5 stars  I LOVE THIS STUFF!
By in Markville, Minnesota on 08/21/2013

I did an awful lot of research before taking a "risk" on mosquito barrier. We have 9 acres and this would've been a pricey mistake to make if it didn't work. I am so tickled to say it worked better than we ever could've hoped. We decided to just do the two acres we keep mowed and it has been so great to enjoy working and playing outdoors again. The gallon size was more Han sufficient and we will definitely buy again when the tie comes.

I mixed the product with water and used a sprayer (also purchased from I tried it on my patio. I sprayed the low hanging tree limbs, along the edges of my deck, and my back yard fence. It definitely kept the mosquitoes away. My son and his friends were complaining about mosquitoes before use. I asked later them whether they were still bothered by mosquitoes. Negative. The smell of garlic right after use is pretty pungent, but dissipates in a few hours.

I've used this product in a professional application service. It does work, however, nothing is 0 when it comes to mosquitoes. Some times it works better than others, but it always helps. I wish it was full proof, but I've come to the conclusion that nothing is full proof.

By Mike in Dyer, IN on 07/21/2014

But this because the reviews were so positive. Well when I received this. this past weekend I followed the instruction exactly as written. double the amount like it said for heavy infestations. Well I sprayed my entire 1 acre lot that is heavily wooded I spent about 5 hours spraying every single square inch of my property( while being attacked like crazy while spraying) after I was all done. There was no difference from before I started. so I thought OK let it sit for awhile and see how it works, but still no difference. Even the next day was no difference. It was like I never sprayed anything at all. Wasted my whole Saturday morning not to mention the money. Don't buy it is not worth it.

We are sorry that you are unhappy with your purchase of the Mosquito Barrier. This product should be mixed at a rate of 1 gallon per 99 gallons of water, or 1.29 oz. per gallon in smaller application equipment (or up to 1.5 oz./gal. in a canister sprayer). If you have very hard water, it is also recommended to add an equal amount of spreader sticker or surfactant to help the product stay on waxy foliage. In some environments, mosquito populations will be much higher, especially if there are breeding sites (standing water) near the property that are not treated. For an all natural product with more residual control, you could choose EcoVia EC: We want you to be happy with your service from Do My Own Pest Control. Feel free to call us toll free at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST if you would like to discuss this matter further. We appreciate your business!

5 of 5 stars  Greyt Stuff
By Linda in Ringgold, GA on 05/22/2014

We have Greyhounds who are sensitive to chemicals, so we bought this to control ticks mainly because we live in a wooded area. Before Mosquito Barrier we couldn't walk to the mailbox without picking up ticks on ourselves. Hubby sprayed all the areas we would be around, and the entire dog area (60'X60') and no more ticks. We did re-apply after a month, or whenever we noticed the ticks returning. I even recommended it to a kennel in Indiana to help control mosquitos (carrier of heartworm infections in dogs) and ticks.

I was hoping after reading reviews that favored this product that it would help with mosquito bites in my backyard. I sprayed as directed and did not see any improvement to reduce the number of bites. Gave two stars due to product being shipped and received in a timely manner without any damage.

By Gary in Rochester, New York on 08/30/2017

I did lots of testing with Mosquito Barrier with great success before offering it as a service to my customers. One test customer was so happy she went door to door signing people up. The first season I offered it as a service and it didn't work. Turns out that during the off season my water supplier had changed. My new water supply was much harder and the PH was way off. If this doesn't work for you check your water and make adjustments.

5 of 5 stars  I swear by this stuff
By Judy in Eddy, TX on 07/27/2017

I am that person that cannot go outside for more than about five minutes and I come back in with at least ten bites or more. After spraying Mosquito Barrier around my house and yard, I can go out and stay out with usually no bites. I have also used on ant beds and it works. I don't have any proof, but it seems that it helps keep the spiders and scorpions at bay as well. Another reason I purchased was that I was looking for a safe way to treat my yard without endangering my pets. Mission accomplished. I even spray a little in the dog's water dish to keep mosquito larvae under control. Love, love, love this product.

2 of 5 stars  Mosquito Barrier
By Ronnie in Drummonds Tn on 07/20/2017

I have 7 acres and the mosquito's are like large birds on my property. We try to sit on the back porch at night and enjoy the country life, build a fire in the fire pit and roast some marshmallows. But that's impossible with these larger than life mosquito's the size of birds. I have a propane fogger that I have been using, so far about two gallons of liquid fogger solution and it doesn't help much either. I have tried just about everything I can think of to knock down the mosquito population. I keep my grass cut really short, I have no standing water around me. But these mosquito's are relentless. So I decided to give the Mosquito Barrier a try after reading the reviews. So I placed my order, it arrived and I read the directions on the label for the mixture rate. So I doubled the amount required per gallon since our mosquito population is so high. I sprayed 10 gallons of the mosquito barrier completely round my home, I made sure to hit every single shrub, plant and the flowers. I walked my property and I sprayed everywhere I could reach, the whole time I was spraying I had mosquito's buzzing around my head. This mosquito barrier didn't keep them away from me at all, so I tried a test just to see if this stuff really works. I stood still and sprayed a complete heavy circle of the mosquito barrier around me. The mosquito's were still buzzing around my head and biting me on my legs, arms and back. So I am not impressed with this product, it has done nothing to reduce the mosquito population as it claims to do.

5 of 5 stars  Great Product
By J.j. in Howell, MI on 06/21/2017

I live in a generally low, marshy area out in the country in Michigan which has a lot of mosquitoes. I bought a Stihl SR200 motorized sprayer to spray my acre. It is so awesome (and weird) to be able to sit outside at night and there to be no mosquitoes. It's almost like twilight zone. I spray every 3 weeks. Works great! We even watched a movie outside at night.

I reviewed this product and thought I would try. I sprayed my property the next day no change, i sprayed every day for the next three days and there was no change the mosquitos are on you while you are spraying and still biting you while you are sitting..product does not work...the only difference was when you came into my backyard you could smell garlic. Big waste of money.

By Cindy in Conklin on 05/27/2017

I love this stuff, a couple of close and heavy applications in the spring followed by another application every 3 weeks or so really helps. It also helps with the pesky face flies and gnats. Best of all, I can spray my barn walls and all around my pasture without getting chemicals near my mini horse!

By Retha in Columbia, mo on 10/25/2016

Was tired of everytime I took the dog out coming back in with welps and itching from mosquito bites. Tried this product due to the reviews and it did not even faze the mosquitos. We sprayed several times and quite heavily and we were even getting bite while spraying. Sorry, not worth the money.

QWhat can be added to Mosquito Barrier to help increase its residual?
Are there any NON-CHEMICAL products that could be added to Mosquito Barrier in a backpack sprayer to make it either more effective or have a longer residual time? Also, are there any traditional, chemical-based products that could be added to it for the same purpose?

For non chemical products there are not a lot of options to increase the residual. You could potentially mix the Mosquito Barrier (that while states it has a residual is more of a temporary repellent and contact kill) with an all natural insecticide like Essentria IC3. Essentria will typically hold up to the outdoor elements around 30 days depending on the weather as all natural oil based products tend to break down in sunlight faster than chemical residual products.†

For chemical products you could go with something like Bifen or Suspend Polyzone for a longer residual. But here's the issue with using any residual killing insecticide whether natural/non chemical or chemical based with Mosquito Barrier.†

While you could tank mix the two, the Mosquito Barrier is going to work against the effectiveness of the residual product for probably at least the first week or two. You are spraying Bifen/Suspend Poly/Essentria on surfaces moquitoes would land on and harbor in so that when they touch the treated surface they pick it up on their bodies and die from it. If you are spraying Mosquito Barrier you are using it to repel the mosquitoes away from areas you dont want them or are trying to keep them from harboring. So essentially by mixing the two together, you are repelling the mosquitoes away from the Bifen/Suspend Poly/Essentria to not die from it. Outside of an initial contact kill the mosquito barrier isn't going to provide killing action for you long term, only repellency. The residual products are†actually the better products to use on a consistent basis in main target areas on the property where mosquitoes would be found, and use the Mosquito Barrier around patios and hang out areas to keep them at bay until they have died from landing on the residual product treated surfaces.†

That being said, if you choose to go with suedo chemical products, using an IGR (Nyguard or Tekko)†to help stop the reproductive cycle of the mosquitoes or a larvacide (Altosid) †in standing water areas on or near the property where the main problem could be imminating from should drastically increase the results you see long term as well.†
