Product Overview

Onetime Herbicide combines the weed killing technology of Drive XLR8 with dicamba and MCPP-P to provide broad spectrum control and kill more than 70 listed weeds. The technology in Drive XLR8 quickly enters plants to more consistently and effectively control broadleaf and grassy weeds, all while being rainfast. Onetime Herbicide is a fantastic postemergent grass weed killer that also works on many broadleaf weeds. Use Onetime Herbicide in both warm and cool season grasses in residential and non-residential turf to provide postemergence control of crabgrass, torpedograss, foxtail, ground ivy, dollarweed, and wild violet.

For use in California: Biotypes of large and smooth crabgrass in California have shown varied response to this product. If control failure occurs following a full or split application, DO NOT reapply this product. Change to a herbicide with a different mode of action.

Killed everything but the Bermuda grass.

    By Mark on 10/24/2012

    Verified Purchase

BASF Onetime Herbicide is pretty much the greatest thing ever. I live in the South and have a recently sodded Bermuda grass yard (8mos). The local garden centers kept telling me I would destroy my lawn if I put ANYTHING on it for the first 12 months (including fertilizer - my biggest mistake). So my lawn turned into a mess of weeds - broadleaf, clover, crabgrass, and sedges...just about everything horrible. The weeds won - I gave up trying to pull them all out. After not being able to take the mess any longer, and considerable research, I picked up a bottle of BASF Onetime, BASF AquaCap, and BASF Basagran. One tank mix of all of the above herbicides, a surfactant, and 3 days - the weeds are all gone. I still can't believe how fast and effective the mix was. Most everything was dead within in 3 days, and the remaining weeds targeted by the onetime were totally dead in 5. My sedges were very mature: 5+ tiller and will require another Basagran application, however, it is clearly working very well. Next year will tell how well the AquaCap pre-emergent works. I was concerned about spray drift killing my grassy looking ornamental plants - the range of standard southern landscaping plants I have remain unaffected and healthy. Only gripe is that it's pretty expensive (read: intended for commercial use.) The 1 gallon bottle dilutes to the point I could spray my entire subdivision. And still have enough for next year. Great product, highly recommended.

    Named Great

This is a awsome herbicide for grass-burrs, johnson grass & crab grass. It also seems to be a slow burn down on broadleaf weeds.

    Awesome product

    By Ron on 08/26/2018

I've been using Onetime for the past few years with terrific results and came to order more today. Disappointed this has been discontinued however I'm sure DoMyOwn has an equivalent or better product. DoMyOwn offers great customer service and "commercial grade" products that have saved me hundreds of dollars by enabling me to handle lawn & pest applications myself.

Q
Chigger yard control

Every Summer, June through August, chiggers infest my yard. I live in a suburban area. I keep the grass length between 3 and 4 inches. Most of the back yard receives direct sunlight from morning to late afternoon. We have a few small gardens around the perimeter of the yard. We get chigger bites even when we stay away from the gardens. What can be applied to the lawn to keep the chiggers away throughout the summer, and how often do I need to apply? Will mowing the lawn require application?

A
Onslaught is a great product for chigger control. Treatments for chiggers should begin in April/May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.

Q
Is Onetime Herbicide safe to use on fescue grass and is this a concentrate?

If it is a concentrate, how much area will this 128 ounce product cover? How is it applied and how much area will it cover?

A
Onetime Herbicide is safe to use on Tall Fescue. However, you should not use Onetime Herbicide on Fine Fescue unless it is part of a seed blend. Onetime Herbicide is a liquid concentrate that should be mixed with water at a rate of 64 oz per acre or 1.45 oz per 1,000 sq feet of treated area. Therefore, 128 oz of Onetime Herbicide will treat a total of 2 acres.

Q
Can I use the Onetime Herbicide for control of ivy and not kill my oak trees? If not, what would you recommend?
A
Onetime Herbicide should NOT be applied on trees or shrubs at all per the product label. We recommend that you cut the vine and treat the surrounding area on the the turfgrass with a product labeled to treat the type of ivy you are treating for. We will need some more information to offer you a product recommendation. Please contact us at 866.581.7378.
