    What herbicide kills Johnson Grass without harming my bermuda?
    I have roadside Johnson grass coming into my yard. It is taking over rapidly. I want something to control it or kill it without hurting my bermuda.

    You can use a pre emergent called Pendulum 3.3 EC which is labeled to treat Johnson grass in Bermuda. Please follow the product labeld for application. You can also use a post emergent called Celsius.

    How many ounces of Pendulum 3.3 EC do I need to use per gallon of water?
    A
    The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Pendulum is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 1.3 - 1.8 oz of Pendulum per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.3-1.8 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.

    Whats the difference in Pendulum 3.3 EC vs Pendulum Aqua Cap besides the 1.3% difference in the A.I?
    And why is there such a big difference in pricing?

    Pendulum 3.3 EC is an OIL BASED product.  It also has a yellowing agent that can stain hard surfaces such as driveways and sidewalks. As an alternative, we sell Pendulum AquaCap which is a newer formulation with the same active ingredient that is water-based, easier to mix and use and does not contain the yellowing agent.  The AquaCap is a newer product with different technology to prevent the staining so the research put into developing it has caused the higher price.

    Is the Pendulum 3.3 safe for animals to be around?
    A
    As long as you follow all safety precautions stated on the product label and keep pets out of the area you plan to treat both during the application and until the surfaces have dried/settled, it is safe for pets to be around.

    Is Pendulum 3.3 EC safe to use in areas where small dogs are and walk?
    after weeds have been sprayed could it be harmful for dogs that eat the grass or green weeds that where sprayed, as this is a natural thing for dogs to do.

    Pets and other people should stay out of areas treated with Pendulum 3.3 EC Herbicide during application and at least until the product is dry. Often the primary reason for this is to make sure that walking around on the wet application does not disturb it, rather than because of health concerns.     How long does Pendulum 3.3 EC last in the ground after spray app?
    A

    How long the Pendulum 3.3 EC lasts depends on the rate used at application per the product label.  It can last anywhere between 2 to 4 months at lower rates or 6 to 8 months at high rate.  Please refer to the product label for complete information and instructions.

    What temperature should I apply Pendulum 3.3 EC?
    A
    We do not recommend applying Pendulum 3.3 EC when the temperature is over 80 degrees or during the heat of the day. Do not apply when the following conditions exist that increase the likelihood of spray drift from intended targets: high or gusty winds, high temperatures, low humidity. Please refer to the product label for the application instructions.

    Can I use Pendulum 3.3 EC to control purslane in a vegetable garden?
    A
    No, Pendulum 3.3 EC cannot be used in a vegetable garden. We do have one herbicide that can be used in vegetable gardens, Fertilome Over the Top II (be sure the vegetables you are growing are listed on the product label before use) however, it is not labeled for purslane.  Unfortunately, weed control in vegetable gardens is beyond our expertise. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and ask to speak to the master gardener on staff to receive more information on weed control in a vegetable garden.

    How often can/should pendulum be applied for year round weed control in my yard?
    A
    According to the Pendulm 3.3 EC - 2.5 Gallon label, it states DO NOT exceed a maximum of 4.8 pts/acre per application on residential turfgrass. It doesnt have a max per year limit so as long as no more than that amount is being put down at a time, and reapplication intervals are kept accurate (6-8 weeks between treatments). Pre-emergents are unique since they only prevent weeds from germinating unlike post-emergents which kill the actively growing weeds which is why the primarily have a maximum per year rates.

    Is the yellowing agent in Pendulum 3.3 EC sufficiently visible to see where you have sprayed on grass?
    I have used blue dyes in the past and really can't see it. Green dye would be even worse.

    The yellow in the product is not meant to be a marker, it is just the color of the active ingredient. We are not sure if it is sufficient for you to see on the grass it self. Sorry we could not be of more help!

    How many acres a Pendulum 3.3 EC - 2.5 Gallon will cover depends on the dilution rate, per the product label you would use 3.6 to 4.8 pts/acre or 1.3 to 1.8 oz/1000 sq ft.

    If my Pendulum 3.3 EC freezes, can I still use it after it thaws?
    A

    As long as Pendulum 3.3 EC was only frozen for a very short period of time, and if after it was thawed out it went back into a solution (the way it usually looks) it should be fine to use. However, if it appears that there are particles floating at the top, the product appears discolored, or the product will not go back into a solution, it should be discarded and replaced. Be mindful that Pendulum 3.3 EC should be kept out of extreme temperatures and kept in a room temperature environment out of direct sunlight.

    Can Pendulum be used for sand burr control in pastures?
    A

    Pendulum 3.3 EC - 2.5 Gallons is not labeled to be used in pastures where animals graze or is used for hay.  We currently do not carry a pre-emergent herbicide labeled for this area and would recommend checking with your department of agriculture for a recommendation, if this is the use of the pasture.
