Details

This contains Gallery, a pre-emergent herbicide for control of certain broadleaf weeds and suppression of annual grasses in established turfgrass and landscape ornamentals. Apply in late summer to early fall, in early spring, or anytime prior to germination of target weeds.

Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery controls weeds germinating from seed. Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery does not control established weeds. Existing weeds should be controlled with post-emergent herbicides. To insure optimal herbicidal response, water treated areas as soon as possible after application. A single rainfall or sprinkler irrigation of 0.5 inch or more is required to activate this product.

Do not apply more than 19 lbs. of Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery per 1,000 sq. ft.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Apply Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery using a drop or rotary-type spreader designed to apply granular fertilizer. Calibrate application equipment prior to use according to manufacturer’s directions. Check frequently to be sure equipment is working properly and distributing granules uniformly. Do not use spreaders that apply material in narrow concentrated bands. Avoid skips or overlaps as poor weed control or plant injury may occur. More uniform application may be achieved by spreading half of the required amount of product over the area and then applying the remaining half in swaths at right angles to the first. When using a drop-type spreader, a splash board mounted below the release point will provide more even granule distribution.

Broadcast Application Rates

Apply Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery at a broadcast rate of 4.6 to 5.7 lb per 1,000 sq. ft. A minimum rate of 4.6 lb per 1,000 sq. ft. is recommended for optimum results. Use the higher rate in the rate range where heavy weed infestation is anticipated.

TURFGRASS

Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery is recommended as a pre-emergent treatment for control of certain broadleaf weeds in established cool season and warm season turfgrass. Apply Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery anytime prior to germination of target weeds.

Specific Use Precautions: Apply Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery only on established turf. Apply to newly seeded turf (including overseeded turf) only after seedlings are established (three leaf stage and side shoots are visible) and well rooted. Do not overseed established turf sooner than 60 days following an application of Ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery.

  • Do not apply this product to golf course putting greens.
  • Do not apply ferti•lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery to Dichondra.
  • Do not exceed 3 applications per year on St. Augustinegrass in central Florida.

    Unknown Effectiveness

    By Ron on 02/15/2017

I purchased the pre-emergence weed control to combat spotted spurge because of the water restrictions in the Palm Springs CA area. Warning-the bag has no directions on what setting to set the spreader and the help desk has no idea what setting. Their recommended setting covered less than 2500 ft instead of 5000 ft. Let the buyer beware.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
Thank you for your feedback! We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience. Unfortunately, there are so many spreaders on the market that it is impossible for manufacturers to have a complete list of recommended settings. Also, keep in mind that different people walk at different paces. For these reasons, we highly recommend calibrating your spreader your needs. Otherwise, you should always start with the lowest setting on your spreader and adjust from there. You can view a helpful video about calibrating your spreader here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vXBjeVA3ao

Hard to find but worth it

    By Jb on 04/25/2013

Pre-emergent other than corn gluten is hard to find these days but it's worth it. We've used it for a few years now and it does a good job of keeping our neighbors' 10,000 dandilions out of our yard. Much better than weed-n-feed POST-emergent.

    Fertilome Preemergent

    By Sara on 09/05/2016

I use this product at my home in VA on my fescue and at my Dad's in GA on his Bermuda/centipede. It has saved me more hous in weeding than I can say. I apply it in VA in Early winter, spring, and sometimes summer. I used to have seas of chickweed, lespedeza, blossom weed, spurge, corn speedwell, dandelions- you name it. Not now. Tip- apply two strips on edges. They get the wear and that's the weak link. I did Dad's house in GA for the first time this year. This product has is the only ingredient that the extension site says stops chamberbitter. We will see! I am also hoping it helps with Carolina Geranium too. I will update this later to say. Shipping from this site was great. Prompt and well packed.

Q
Which is a better pre-emergeent herbicide between Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery and XL 2G?

I already plan to use Dimension (Pennington's) for crabgrass prevention.

A
As far as effectiveness, both the Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery and the XL 2G will give you exceptional results on broadleaf weed and some annual grass control. The Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery is my personal preference because of the great price. It's the most bang for your buck. However, to give you more of a precise answer we would need to know the weeds you are wanting to kill and where you plan on using the pre-emergent.

Q
Reference to eliminating Chamber Bitter

Can applying Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery keep Chamber Bitter from growing in my Fescue lawn? I live in Raleigh, NC and would like to know if this will work.

A
We have spoken with the manufacturer of Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery and they have confirmed that it will work for Chamber Bitter but that is a very difficult weed to control.   The active ingredient Isoxaben is the only pre-emergent that is labeled to control it though.

Q
What time of year do you apply Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery for Burweed control in SC?

Could you please give me an idea of when to apply Gallery for control of Burweed in upstate (Greenville area) South Carolina? I believe I am in zone 7.

A

According to an article by the Clemson Cooperative Extension, you would want to apply Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery during the winter months of December, January, & February. The weed is smaller and easier to control during this time of year and has not yet developed the spine-tipped burs. Control is not impossible in March, April, & May, but the spines have already formed by this time and will remain after the weed dies. Because lawn burweed is a winter annual, it will begin to die in late spring as air temperatures reach 90 degrees F. Once the weed has reached a more mature state, multiple herbicide applications may be necessary which increases the potential for turfgrass injury.

Q
How much will 1 bag cover of Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery?

I'm getting clover, more every year in my st Augustine and thought the only way to get rid of it was to dig it out, root and all. But just heard of your product. How much does one bag cover? Or, what is the broadcast rate? Want to make sure I get enough product for my .25 acre lawn

A

Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery will cover up to 2,000 sq ft. Per the product label, for preventing white clover from seed only you would get partial control with a single applications or control by repeat applications when applied at 4.6 to 5.7 lb per 1000 sq ft.

Q
What is Gallery? Does this product contain fertilizer?
A

Gallery is a brand name of a pre-emergent herbicide. Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery is not a fertilizer but is instead just a pre-emergent herbicide granule. If you are looking for an herbicide with a fertilizer you can check out our Weed and Feed page:
