Product Overview

NIBAN is a moisture-resistant, fine granular bait that can be used indoors and outdoors to control ants, silverfish, roaches, crickets and more. Niban's weatherized granules don't degrade from heat or sunlight and will last through four inches of rain. Niban is the one bait that will continue to work because Niban has no known resistance and is virtually odorless. Niban kills the microoganisms in the insect's stomach and blocks enzyme production causing starvation. And since it affects none of the insect's major systems, they can't develop resistance.

What is Niban Granular Bait and Niban-FG

They are granulated baits containing five percent boric acid as the active ingredient and a combination of both protein and carbohydrate attractants.

What insects will Niban Granular Bait and Niban-FG control?

They are labeled for the control of cockroaches, crickets, silverfish, and ants, including carpenter ants.

Does either bait have an odor?

There is no detectible pesticide odor. The only odor is that of the food based attractant.

Will Niban irritate skin?

No.

What is the difference between Niban Granular Bait and Niban-FG?

Both products consist of the same formulation but have one significant difference. Niban Granular Bait contains only coarse particles; excellent for outdoor broadcast and perimeter applications. Niban-FG is made up of very small particles which allows it to be used in any type of dusting equipment. Niban-FG is excellent for indoor crack and crevice treatments.

How can I apply Niban Granular Bait?

With a mechanical spreader, power duster, plunger type duster or by hand.

What type of equipment is needed to apply Niban-FG?

Any type of dust applicator will work. For crack and crevice treatments, a bellows duster works best. For broadcast applications in attics and crawl spaces, the use of a power duster cuts application time considerably.

Can I use Niban-FG outdoors?

Yes. Small ants and silverfish often invade homes from the exterior. They build up in considerable numbers in flower beds, refuse areas, and under chips adjacent to a structure. It is frequently more effective to treat the source of the problem rather than trying to eliminate them after they have entered. Apply in a two-foot band around the perimeter of the home.

How long will Niban remain effective outdoors?

Based on studies, Niban Granular Bait remained effective until it was exposed to between one and a half and two inches of rainfall.

Hoping for results in the fall

    By Victoria on 09/04/2007

We have those hideous Camel Crickets in our garage and under the house. We usually begin to see them in the fall, however we have seen a few this summer. We purchased NiBan granules to get rid of them. We have not seen any Camel Crickets since putting the NiBan down, but I can't give you a true review until the fall. Hope this info helps someone!

    Camel Crickets

    By Larry on 05/12/2010

This bait was recommended for camel crickets which I have had for the past year. Recently the problem started getting worse so I decided to do something about it. Within a week of putting out this bait I noticed them dying all over. Haven't found a live one since. Also probably saved me an additional $100 for an exterminator.

    Good product

    By Christine on 05/26/2006

Just wanted to say that I am ordering NiBan Granular Bait  for the second time. It is an effective product and does last through several rainstorms. Last year, we were infected with ants and we suspected an infected bag of mulch may have been the carrier. Diazinon granules were not working and so I called a professional exterminator. I noticed that he used Niban along with a liquid product that this website carries. Of course, when he left, I Googled 'Niban' and up popped this website and the product. It's been very good for us here in Yonkers. I am now ordering a "sample" for my neighbor. I also fling some Niban into my pachysandra because I noticed lots of carpenter ants. So far, the pachysandra has not died and we've had rain. Good product! Read the label and use garden gloves.

    Niban Works

    By Rc on 10/23/2010

This stuff does the trick. I've had camel crickets in my shop and crawl space for years and the bug sprays didn't do much. I spread some Niban around the corners of the shop and on top of the foundation and the camel crickets have been gone for a few years. They've made a comeback so I spread some more around and they disappeared completely within a few days. My mom in Florida has always had roaches in the house, so I had her try Niban. she placed about 10 jar lids with Niban in them around the kitchen, basement, and porch, and the roaches have been gone for over a year. Great stuff!

    Effective product

    By Ray on 10/01/2010

    Verified Purchase

Eight years ago we purchased a vacation home in Palm Springs, CA. The place had a roach and cricket infestation. The property was sprayed, but only a handful would die. Each time we would visit, there would be over 35+ dead cockroaches inside the house, and the patio would be blanketed each evening with jumping crickets. After reading an article from "the bug man" about Niban Bait in The San Francisco Chronicle; I went online and read some more. I have been using Niban Bait for 4 years+ and all crickets are gone, last year we found one dead roach upon our arrival, and this year so far only two. This generally happens when the outside temps reach three digits in summer time. We have not seen any during the cooler months. Our neighbor tells us he hasn't seen any crickets in his property since we have been using this product.

Sort Questions
Q
Is Niban Granular Bait safe to use around small cats and dogs, will they be attracted to it?
A
Niban Granular Bait is very safe to use around children and pets. The 95% other ingredients are just food products, which is the part of the bait that attracts the insects to where you apply the bait for them to eat.  The 5% boric acid is the only part of the bait that kills the insect.  It is only strong enough to kill a small insect.  When you broadcast Niban as directed, there is not enough of it in one place to attract a pet and should cause no problems.  Many pest control companies use Niban Bait as part of their natural pest control program because it is such a safe and easy to use product.

Q
I've used Niban around the foundation where I've actually seen ant trails and they seem to not be interested.

Is there a better way of applying this material?

A
Ants change their nutritional needs frequently. This means that one day they may only forage for proteins, like the Niban granules you put out and another day they may forage for carbohydrates like bait gels or liquids. We recommend leaving the granules in place and allow the ants to continue their natural foraging and in time they will eat the bait. It is important not to disturb the ant trails or nests while putting out the bait or the ants could ignore the bait. Do not sprinkle the bait onto mounds or into the middle of trails. Simply put the bait near where you see activity.
