Q
Is Prokoz Sevin SL Carbaryl Insecticide safe for birds, bees, dogs and humans?
A

When used according to the label, the Prokoz Sevin is safe for birds, pets and humans to be around once the product has dried completely on the surface. In regards to bees, the product label states:

Bee Caution: May kill honeybees and other bees in substantial numbers. This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on crops or weeds in bloom. For crops in bloom, do not apply this product to target crops. Notifying beekeepers within 1 mile of treatment area at least 48 hours before product is applied will allow them to take additonal steps to protect their bees. Limiting application to times wen bees are least active-ex. within 2 hours of sunrise or sunset-will minimize risk to bees.

Q
Looking for best product to treat tick infestation on farm

Using granular bug b gone for tick control in yard but need effective spray to use in trees and shrubs. Have forest surrounding house and need product concentrate to spray 100 acres.

A
Talstar P mixed with an Insect Growth regulator such as Nyguard IGR would be a good choice for tick control. Talstar P would work to kill ticks that come into contact with treated surfaces while the Nyguard would work to help stop juvenile ticks from reaching sexual maturity. You should remember that ticks may be hidden in tall or dense brush so higher treatment volumes may be needed to treat the entire plant, not just the top side of the plant where it is easiest to spray. You should try to get the application on the underside of leaves and all the way to the bottom of the plant. We recommend treating the entire infested area (no spot treating). When you are dealing with an area that has a high tick population you may be required to treat once a month from spring through to the first frost, no matter what product you use.

Q
Can the Prokoz Sevin be used for lawns to prevent moles? How large an area can be covered with one unit?
A
Prokoz Sevin is not used to control moles. This product is an insecticide that will control lawn infesting pest like ants, worms, caterpillars, ticks, etc. While this will control grubs and worms which are a food source for moles, it will most likely only deter them temporarily. The best way to control moles is with a product specifically for them like our Talpirid Mole Worms, Talpirid Mole Trap, or Giant Destroyer Gassers for their tunnels. You can review all options on our page under Mole Control. Please let us know if you have any questions.
