    Q
We are using Bifen Granules to kill armyworms, will it kill them? How soon will it work?
We followed the directions for treating our lawn with Bifen granules following a notable infestation and movement of armyworms across our property. It's been 12 hours since the product was watered in, and we are not seeing any improvement. The armyworms are just as active and just as plentiful. Is it possible the product was bad?
    A

Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules are labeled for armyworms and will do a great job controlling this pest. When treating for armyworms to ensure optimum control, irrigate the treated area with up to 0.1 inches of water immediately after application to activate (release from the granule) the insecticide. This product is not one that will kill the listed pests on contact.  It will take time. There are several factors like the severity of an infestation that will play a part in how long it takes to gain complete control. It could possibly take a few weeks for full control. The product will leave a residual that lasts in the soil for 2-3 months.

    Q
How often should I treat yard for fleas with Bifen L/P?
Bought this product from you and treated 2 times 14 days apart. Worked great. Fleas are coming from neighbors infested yard so will they avoid our treated yard or should we continue to use to avoid having them again?
    A

Because granules can last longer than a liquid residual, we don't recommend reapplying Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules sooner than 30 days.Granules wouldn't be the best option because the granules will usually sink below the thatch layer. When treating for fleas, it's better to use a liquid insecticide, you can use Bifen IT. With Bifen IT, when treating for active fleas, you can re-treat every 14 days. A liquid insecticide is better because the residual will be in the soil, thatch and grass blades as well, offering a better residual. Once you have it under control, you can continue to treat every 30 days, especially if those around you are not doing anything to control the flea activity. Take a look at our Flea Prevention Guide, Step 3, for more tips for Outdoor Yard Flea Prevention.

How effective are Bifen Granules with ticks?
I live in NH and tick population and lyme disease is significant.
    A

Bifen Granules are an excellent option for ticks in your lawn. You will broadcast them across the lawn and water the product in once it has been applied. This will last approximately 2-3 months in the soil.

    Q
I am currently treating for roaches. Do I need additional products besides Bifen Granules?
I am currently treating inside my home with fumigation. Bifen Granules are being used around the perimeter of my home, but we still have lot of roaches inside the home, even after I have fumigated. Do I need to open every electrical outlet and put powder pesticide inside?
    A

We recommend to continue using the Bifen L/P Granules for outdoors to protect your lawn from a broad range of insects. We do recommend treating in your wall voids and behind your outlets with an insecticide dust that will leave a long residual such as Delta Dust. It is water resistant and will last up to 7 months. To do a complete treatment we recommend our Roach Control Kit Rotation A. This kit comes with several products that should be used together to eliminate roach infestations.

Do Bifen Granules kill American/Oriental roaches?
    A

We are not sure why Bifen Granules does not have roaches on the label, but it is the same product as Talstar PL Granules, and roaches are listed on the Talstar granule product label. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Roaches for a successful roach control program. We do carry Roach Control Kits.

    Q
Are the granules too fine for a lawn spreader?
I have a larger 50lb walk-behind broadcast spreader (Earthway 2150). Are the granules too fine for this spreader?
    A

We don't have the exact spreader setting to apply Bifen Granules with your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting for your needs is outlined below:

Ex: If you need to use 3 lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft you would add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high

    Q
To kill and control ants, should I put the ant bait stations down first?
Or do the granules go down first or should I put them down at the same time?
    A
We would not recommend applying Bifen Granules in the locations where you are setting the bait stations. This may interfere with the bait attractants Please find our article " Advantages of Ant Bait" for more information. Now if you are using a bait station that is not on the ground like Ant NO More, you can apply Bifen near the stations and you would want to apply the granular first.

    Q
Can Bifen LP Granules be dissolved in a sprayer and applied in that fashion?
    A

Bifen Granules should never be applied through any sprayer of any sort. This is a granule that should be applied with a spreader only and once applied to the yard watered in by sprinkler or irrigation or light rain to activate it. These are granules that are designed to break down slowly over time and last over a period of 2-3 months dependent on weather over that time frame. If you wish to spray an insecticde on your lawn you should use Bifen I/T which is a liquid concentrate product forumlated for that use.

    Q
Will Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules kill fire ants?
    A

Yes, Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules is labeled to control fire ants. According to the product label, the best control will be achieved by using broadcast treatments in combination with mound drenches. It is critical to water before treatments if the soil is dry. Apply up to 0.4 lb AI/A when making broadcast applications. When treating mounds apply ½ a cup of granules per mound and drench the mound with 1-2 gallons of water. A four-foot diameter around the mound should also be treated.

    Q
Can Bifen control Ghost Ants in my yard and vegetation area?
I have Ghost ants problem in my yard and they enter the house through weep holes. Can Bifen L/P eliminate these ants from my vegetation and stop entering the house? Can I use a hand spreader? What product can I spray on vegetation plants so that ghost ants/Sugar ants do not walk on these plants? Thanks
    A
Bifen cannot be applied to a garden area under any circumstances.  It is a great product to apply in the yard and can be applied using any hand or push spreader, but it would have to be applied more than 10 feet away from any garden area.  For keeping ants out of a garden area, the only product labeled for this use would be a garden specific product such as our Fertilome Liquid Garden Spray which would help deter the ants from walking on your plants.
