Product Overview

Pillar G Intrinsic Granular Fungicide is a combination of Insignia fungicide and Trinity fungicide active ingredients in a granular form. The combination of these two very effective active ingredients will deliver the best disease control on many of the diseases and problems that challenge turf management. Several diseases include anthracnose, dollar spot, leaf spots, patch diseases (large patch, brown patch, summer patch, take-all patch), and snow molds.

Pillar G Intrinsic Granular Fungicide also provides benefits in plant health. Turf that is treated with Pillar G Intrinsic fungicide improves the health of the plant in its stress management, with drought, moisture, plus its temperature limits. Also, treated turf has shown enlarged root mass and length. Pillar G is formed on a granule of clay which provides excellent spreading features due to its thickness and uniform size. This makes the active ingredient move quickly off of the granule after watering or when raining so that it can protect the turfgrass shortly after the application.

Details

While spray applications of fungicides are most common to control disease, many turf managers find that granular products can be very convenient to use. Pillar G Intrinsic brand fungicide can allow applications to take place

  1. When conditions do not allow for spray equipment on a turf area (wet, snow cover)
  2. When air temperatures do not allow for spraying due to the potential to freeze spray lines
  3. When only a spot treatment is required, saving on manpower and equipment resources
  4. For applicators that prefer granular applications.

General Information

  • Better performance on dollar spot than many other products including Heritage G fungicide, Compass fungicide and Disarm fungicide
  • Dense particle with excellent spreading characteristics
  • Controls more diseases than competing granular fungicides
  • Labeled for use on most turfgrasses for both lawns and golf
  • Provides healthier and higher quality turf, especially during stressful periods.

Diseases Controlled and How to Treat Them

Disease Application Interval (days) Comments
Anthracnose 14 to 28 Use preventively. Begin applications when conditions are favorable for fungal infection, prior to disease symptom development.
Bentgrass dead spot 28 Use preventively. Begin applications when conditions are favorable for fungal infection, prior to disease symptom development.
Bermudagrass decline 28 Aids in control of bermudagrass decline when integrated with appropriate cultural practices such as raised mowing height, proper fertilization, and core aeration. Make 1 application in the spring following greenup and a second application in the fall when air temperatures remain above 80 degrees F and humidity is 75% or higher.
Brown patch 14 to 28 Apply when conditions are favorable for disease development.
Brown ring patch 14 to 28 Apply when early yellow ring development is symptomatic. Provide short irrigation cycle directly following treatment to move fungicide through thatch.
Dollar spot 14 to 28 Apply when conditions are favorable for disease development. Ring symptoms can take 2 to 3 weeks to disappear following application. For optimum results, apply a soil wetting agent to the intended treatment area prior to Pillar G Intrinsic application.
Fairy ring 14 to 28 Apply as soon as possible after fairy ring symptom development. Fairy ring symptoms can take 2 to 3 weeks to disappear following application. For optimum results, apply a soil wetting agent to the intended treatment area prior to Pillar G Intrinsic application.
Fusarium patch (Pink snow mold) 28 Make 1 application in late fall just prior to snow cover. For optimum control under severe disease pressure, make application of Trinity fungicide, Insignia SC Intrinsic brand fungicide, or Insignia fungicide 14 days prior to Pillar G Intrinsic application.
Gray leaf spot 14 to 28 Use preventively. Begin applications when conditions are favorable for fungal infection, prior to disease symptom development.

Leaf spot 14 to 28 Apply when conditions are favorable for disease development.
Melting out 14 to 28  Apply when conditions are favorable for disease development.

Pink patch 14 to 28 Apply when conditions are favorable for disease development, when night temperatures are 60 degrees F to 70 degrees F, and in periods of higher rainfall.
Pink snow mold 28 Make 1 application in late fall just prior to snow cover. For optimum control under severe disease pressure, make application of Trinity, Insignia SC Intrinsic brand fungicide or Insignia 14 days prior to Pillar G Intrinsic application.
Powdery mildew 14 to 28 Use preventively. Begin applications when conditions are favorable for fungal infection, normally under prolonged moist and humid conditions. Apply prior disease symptom development for best control.
Pythium rood dysfunction 14 Use preventively. Begin applications when conditions are favorable for fungal infection, prior to disease symptom development. DO NOT apply more than two strobilurin-based fungicides sequentially prior to rotation to a different mode-of action.
Rapid blight 14 to 28 Apply when conditions are favorable for disease development which occurs normally on salinity stresses grasses. Occurs most commonly on cool season grasses used under overseeded conditions. Begin applications in fall and follow with spring applications as needed. DO NOT apply more than two strobilurin-based fungicides sequentially prior to rotation to a different mode-of action.

Great job controlling my fungicide. Recommended to me by a local landscaping company. Also, a very good price compared to local sales stores.

    Excellent product

    By Zachary on 09/29/2017

Easy to use, setting for spreaders on bag, both active ingredients together tag team almost any disease, cured some pythium in my zoysia. I only wish they made the bag resealable.

Good on St. Augustine Floratram grass

    By Alan on 06/15/2018

This fungicide is really working great. With all the rain the past month, the grass is growing like crazy. I added some manganese and magnesium to the regular lawn fertilizer application and it has never been more dense and green. If not for the Pillar G Intrinsic Fungicide, it would have big spots of dying grass. It did every year before this year.

    By Bobby on 10/26/2015

Will not know if this product works until spring. However already do know that I have saved substantial money by buying from domyownpestcontrol - over buying from local distributor.

Q
Can this be used in rotation with Heritage G? Is it in a different classification?

Would like to find a different fungicide in a different classification than Heritage G that also is applied by granular.

A

Pillar G and Heritage both have a Group 11 classified ingredient so while generally they would not be the best products to rotate to protect against fungicide and plant resistance, Pillar has an added active ingredient that allows you to do so. A better option would be a Group 1 fungicide like Clearys 3336G Fungicide
