Ortho MAX Poison Ivy and Tough Brush Killer Concentrate is formulated to kill tough brush and weeds including but not limited to poison oak, kudzu, poison ivy and wild black berries and over 60 more. This tough weed solution kills the toughest woody plants and brushy weeds including stumps and vines. Its distinct formula is top notch for getting rid of poison ivy, poison oak and other problematic weeds on your property. This particular tough weed killer contains Triclopyr and comes in 2 sizes.

IMPORTANT: Do not use on or around edible feed or food crops or areas where grazing is allowed.

HOW TO USE

  • May be applied with an Ortho Dial 'N Spray Hose-End Sprayer or any other tank sprayer.
  • Use coarse spray to reduce drift to desirable plants. Spray weeds to thoroughly wet foliage, stems and trunk.

  • Do not spray plants or grasses you like - they may die too. Foliage spray not recommended for weed control in lawns.
  • If weeds are growing around desirable plants, shield plants from drift with a sheet of cardboard or plastic.
  • If desirable plants are accidentally sprayed, rinse off immediately with water.
  • Amount of spray needed for brush control will depend on density of brush in areas to be treated. Rate of application may range from 4 oz./gal/100 square feet for defense areas 4 oz./gal/100 square feet for lighter areas of brush.

WHEN TO APPLY

  • Apply when weeds are leafed out and actively growing.
  • Apply when air is calm to prevent drift to desirable plants.
  • Rain 2 hours after application will not reduce effectiveness.
  • Wilting or yellowing will occur in 2 to 6 weeks.
  • Hard to kill weeds may require a repeat application if regrowth occurs.

NOTE: Contact with poison oak ivy anytime of the year can cause an allergic reaction. Handle dead plants with rubber gloves. Dispose of plants and rubber gloves in tightly sealed garbage bags.

Per the manufacturer, after using Ortho Max Poison Ivy & Tough Brush Killer lawns and ornamental flowers, trees or shrubs can be replanted in 6-8 weeks. If you are planning to plant edibles in the area you must wait one year.

Ortho MAX Poison Ivy and Tough Brush Killer Concentrate is mixed at the rate of 4 oz. per gallon per 400 sq. ft.  In areas where the brush is very dense, the rate is 4 oz. per gallon per 100 sq. ft.

Ortho MAX Poison Ivy and Tough Brush Killer Concentrate does list dozens of weeds that it controls on the product label. This list does include Japanese honeysuckle, but it does not include wild garlic or mustard. Bonide Poison Ivy and Brush Killer BK-32 will control wild garlic, garlic mustard, honeysuckle, and dozens of other weeds.
