Product Overview

Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control with Systemaxx by Bonide kills insects in one application and prevents new infestations for an entire year. No spraying required, just mix and pour at base of plant or tree. This systemic insecticide is then absorbed through the roots to all parts of the plant, including new growth, and cannot be washed off by rain or water. For use on fruit, nut and ornamental trees and shrubs, see product label for a complete list. Kills boreres, adelgids, miners, whitefly, scale, beetles, weevils and more.

Foliar Applications

Use this as a foliar spray to provide contact control of larvae, nymphs or adults of the following insect pests: adelgids, aphids, Japanese beetles, lace bugs, leaf beetles (including elm leaf beetles and viburnum leaf beetles), leafhoppers (including glassy-winged sharpshooter), mealybugs, psyllids, sawfly larvae, thrips (suppression) and whiteflies.

Application Instructions

Apply when insects first appear and before high pest populations are established, prior to blooming or after all flower petals have fallen off. Retreat when re-infestation occurs, when high pest pressure is observed or repeat applications on an as-needed basis with 10-14 day intervals between applications, not to exceed the maximum rate.

How to Apply

Foliar applications with water must be made as a thorough cover spray to provide uniform distribution. Make application prior to blooming or after all flower petals have fallen off. Spray to wet all foliage (leaves, stems and branches). Target the undersides of the leaves and try to penetrate dense foliage with the spray droplets.

Hand-Operated Sprayers

Including backpack, compression, knapsack or tank type sprayers.

For foliar applications mix 1.5 tsp of this product per 1 gallon of water.

  • This concentrate dissolves in water allowing the insecticide to move through the root zone. Once in the roots, the insecticide moves up through the tree or shrub providing protection from insects. This product will also provide protection for new growth.
  • Kills Adelgids, Aphids, Bronze Birch Borers, Leafminers, Scale and other listed pests.
  • Cannot be washed off by rain or water.
  • Kills insects and prevents new infestations.

    Seemed to work

    By Will on 05/29/2012

I have had very stagnant growth on two maples the last two years. They were covered in scales. Poured this stuff around the base of each on 5/9/2012 and scales are almost all gone three weeks later and the trees are growing like crazy. Frankly did not expect this kind of rebound with any product. Dont know if weather or anything else contributed to the rebound but I am a believer in the product now.

Seems to work on red lily beetles

    By Sharon on 06/20/2011

    Verified Purchase

A friend said to try this on the horrible red lily beetles that destroyed my Asiatic and oriental lilies last year. I tried to hand pick them off last year, but they kept coming and coming. I couldn't get them under control. Lilies look much better this year. Still have seen 3 beetles, but hand picked and drowned them, and the lily leaves look great. I am very hopeful this will work, and because it it systemic, not hurt the bees.

    hopefully good control

    By Carol on 08/05/2011

This product was easy to use. I liked that I did not need to spray it up into the trees, which would have blown down on me. However, it says it may take four or more weeks to do the trick, and even then I am not sure I will be able to tell if it has killed the varmints (white scale-like growths along the branches). So I have a big question in my mind about the effectiveness. I am hopeful for the best.

    By Robert on 09/21/2018

Saved 40% by buying through DoMyOwn which enabled me to protect ALL of my trees for an affordable amount. Delivery was within two days, normal shipping. I am amazed how beneficial it is to eliminate the costs associated with middle men and buy direct. Saved me couple of hours shopping in addition to gas as well as not putting myself at risk in traffic. No brainer!

Q
Application Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate- totally within the circle area or just at the "band"?

Should this product be applied to the whole area within the circle i.e. from the tree out to the 24" marker or just in a narrow band at the 24" marker?

A
Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate works best if applied around the base of the tree. You do not have to apply all the way out to the marker.

Q
I have Leland Cyprus trees that are browning. Will annual tree and shrub insect control concentrate work?

The trees get plenty of water and are well established (20+ years old). I have used the Bayer product that offers fertilization as well, but it's so expensive. I believe the trees may have been attacted by some type of borer. Will this product work? How can I identify the problem?

A
If borers are the issue, then yes, the Bonide Annual tree & shrub insect control concentrate will take care of the issue.  The product will take care of many issues, but of course we cannot make any guarantees when you do not know for sure what the issue is.  You can call a local lawn and turf company, or landscape company to do a free evaluation of your yard and they can maybe shed some light on the issue your cypress trees are having.
