I've been told by numerous sources that the red dye is harmful to hummingbirds, and yet I keep seeing it for sale. Is there any truth to this rumor or is it truly safe to use?
We have not been notified or made aware of any scientific research that shows red coloring of the Pennington Natural Springs Hummingbird Nectar Red Powder or any other red dyed product we carry is harmful to hummingbirds. It is safe when mixed and used as directed.
