Sharon from Squaw Valley, Ca writes

I recently purchased a Tomahawk Live Trip to catch ground squirrels. The squirrels won't go into trap.

I have tried the suggested bait options and have brought squirrel food. So far no luck. I did catch a raccoon. Neither of us was happy.

Answer:

Squirrels and rodents in general can be very shy creatures. It can take anywhere from a couple days to a couple of weeks to get a catch. Patience is important when using live cage traps. Although, we recommend you try baiting the cage trap close to the entrance without setting the trap. This will get the squirrels familiar with the trap since they are able to go in a feed and leave. After a few days of the squirrels entering the trap and accepting the bait you can then set the trap and put the bait at the back of the trap and wait for your target to arrive. I hope this helps but if we can help further please call us at 866-581-7378
