Product Overview

Ronstar 50 WSP is a uniquely formulated herbicide designed to control weeds through the shoots and not the roots. Unlike rival products that do not differentiate between roots of desirable plants and roots of weeds, this specific product has no harmful effects towards healthy turfs. This product can be applied to sensitive and delicate grasses even within areas where pests, winterkill, or injury has already weakened the roots. This formulation contains Oxadiazon as an active ingredient which is not a Dinitroaniline (DNA) chemical class making it an effective choice against DNA-resistant goosegrass. It does not restrain recovery and regrowth of turf. It can also be used as a pre-emergent control since it is not significantly affected by the change in weather condition and temperature, and it will remain effective even if it is applied prior to emergence. This gentle yet potent herbicide works all season long and allows a conducive environment for sprigging. This particular product comes in a bag containing two 1 lb. bags of water soluble packets.

This product is only labeled for use on Residential Properties by a Professional Applicator.  The packets cannot be broken down into smaller applications.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

  • Apply prior to weed seed germination as a directed spray to the soil surface or as an over-the-top application on tolerant ornamentals used as ground cover listed on this label.
  • It can be applied to both newly transplanted and established plants. The application can be made to actively growing or dormant plants. However, apply prior to bud break or not until 4 weeks after bud break.
  • Rainfall or irrigation (one-half inch) immediately after application of the product will improve weed control and move it into the upper soil profile. Cultivating or disturbing the soil after application may reduce weed control by disrupting the herbicide barrier.
  • Apply a minimum of 50 gallons of water per acre (1.14 gallons of water per 1000 square feet). Remove existing weeds before application.
  • Apply a maximum of 8 water-soluble packets per acre or 4 lbs. a.i./acre as a single application. The maximum number of applications that may be made per year is two.
  • The maximum single application rate is 4 lbs. a.i./acre. A subsequent application can be made 4 months after previous treatment. For over-the-top sprays, irrigate within 2 hours after application, otherwise, injury to the ornamentals may result.
