Charles from United States writes

Should I throw away all of my clothes because of spider beetles, or will washing get rid of them?

We are moving out and my girlfriend found several spider beetles in her closet. One bag in particular full of clothes had two or three of them on the bag and when she pulled a sock out of the bag it had a little cocoon where they apparently hatch eggs from. she found two other cocoons in the closet. can we just throw the clothes in a washer/dryer or do we have to get rid of everything? Thank you.

Answer:

No, the clothes do not need to be thrown away. We would recommend washing them in warm water and drying them normally. These temperatures are lethal for beetles. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
