    Q
How much SpeedZone Southern Herbicide do I mix with one gallon of water?
    A

You will need to use .55 fl oz -1.5 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft. Please refer to the product label fro the correct usage rate for your needs.

Note: Sprayer calibration (volume of spray needed to treat 1,000 square feet) will vary with each individual operator.
    Steps in Calibration:
    1. Mark an area of 1,000 square feet (i.e. 20 by 50 feet or 25 by 40 feet).
    2. Place the sprayer on a level surface and add water noting the final level of water in the spray tank.
    3. Spray the marked area with a sufficient volume of water to provide uniform coverage. Refill the sprayer to the same level as before measuring the amount of water added. The measured water added to the sprayer is the volume needed to cover 1,000 square feet.
    4. Determine the application rate (fl. oz./1,000 sq. ft.) for Speedzone Southern from the Recommendations section of this label.
    5. To each volume of water used as measured in step 3, add the amount of Speedzone Southern as determined in step 4.
Example: If the sprayer uses 2 gallons of water to cover 1,000 square feet and the desired application rate of Speedzone Southern is 1.5 fluid oz./1,000 square feet, then you would add 1.5 fluid ounces of Speedzone Southern to every 2 gallons of water to be used."

    Q
My dog ate grass with this on it and threw up - is she in danger of something bad?
How long do I have to wait before I can walk my dogs on grass treated with this?
    A
The SpeedZone Southern Herbicide label states that once the product is dry, it is safe for pets to re-enter the treated area. Q
Best weed killer for Dollar Weed?
I have a St Augustine lawn in Florida and have not been able to get rid of the Dollar Weed. What do you recommend?
    A
Speedzone Southern is labeled for Dollarweed and for use on St Augustine grass. According to the Speedzone Southern product label: The turf tolerance to this product may vary and temporary turf grass yellowing may occur on St Augustine. Do not apply Speedzone Southern to Floratam, Bitterblue or other improved species of St Augustine. Do not broadcast or spot spray St Augustine during the fall to winter transition or if temperatures are expected to fall below 40F within 10 days of the application.

Please take a few moments to read through the product label completely for full instructions and other precautions.

    Q
At what rate should i use speedzone southern in a 4 gallon backpack sprayer
    A

  • Asked by Chris from Greensboro, Nc

    Q
Should SpeedZone Southern Herbicide be applied to slightly damp to wet grass, or to dry grass?
We've had really good rainfall in the area over the last few weeks and the grass as well as the weeds are growing. I want to apply the herbicide at the most optimal time. It's scheduled to be dry over the next couple days. Was not sure if I should wait for additional moisture and apply afterwards or if now is a good time. Our temps are in the 60s and 70s in the next week or so. Is it safe and recommended to apply now? My lawn is growing nicely but there are patches of weeds I'd like to keep under control.
    A

SpeedZone Southern Herbicide can be applied to your soil as long as the soil is not waterlogged. The lawn can be damp when you are applying the product.

    Q
Can Speedzone Southern be applied if temperature rises above 85?
Can Speedzone Southern be applied to Centipede if temperature is below 85 upon application but rises later in the day above 85 degrees?
    A
According to the Speedzone Southern product label you are prohibited from broadcast spraying when temperatures reach 85F degrees or above and spot treatments may cause injury as well when temps reach 85F degrees.  To avoid issues it would be better to apply later in the day when temps drop so that the treated area will not be exposed to high temps after application.

  • Asked by Mitch from Hudson, Fl
    04/07/2015
    Q
I'm going to purchase SpeedZone Southern and would like to know which hose end spray if any you would recommend for the application of this product on a 5k sq ft lawn.
    A
Pre-emergent herbicides are not recommended to be used in a hose end sprayer because those sprayers are not accurate enough to apply the correct amount of SpeedZone Southern Herbicide. You will need to use a hand pump sprayer and uniformly spray the product over the specified area. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix  of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.

  • Asked by Jay from North Port Florida 34286
    04/25/2014
    Q
What is the best herbicide for bahiagrass in SW Florida?
    A
Speedzone Southern is a post-emergent herbicide that provides excellent and fast broadleaf weed control in sensitive southern turf grasses such as bahiagrass. SpeedZone Southern controls tough weeds such as dollarweed, creeping beggarweed, clover, plantain, ground ivy and spurge with a fast-acting response time.  You will see weeds start reacting within hours. Speedzone is also rainfast within 3 hours, meaning it will stay on weeds even if it rains the night after you spray.

  • Asked by Dennis from Myrtle Beach, Sc
    04/11/2016
    Q
Can SpeedZone Southern Herbicide be used on centipede grass to kill crabgrass and annual ryegrass?
    A

SpeedZone Southern Herbicide is safe to use on centipede grass, however it will only control broadleaf weeds listed on the product label, not crabgrass or ryegrass. We recommend a pre-emergent herbicide for the best control of crabgrass. Dimension 2EW would be an excellent choice for pre-emergent control of these and many other weeds.
