    Q
Is Steri-Fab harmful if inhaled during the application? Is it irritating if you touch treated areas?
    A
Steri-Fab is a very safe product to use and is used everyday in hospitals, day-cares and nursing homes without any issues at all. Steri-Fab does contain alcohol so it does have a bit of a smell but the smell is not harmful and it disappears after the treated area is dry. We have never had a complaint that Steri-Fab was irritating to anyone's skin after it has dried.

    Q
    Does Steri-fab kill on contact?
I willl be staying in a hotel in November, and I would like to know if it will kill bedbugs on contact. I don't want to stay there in a room with them until they die, and I don't want to bring them home with me either.
    A
Steri-Fab does indeed kill on contact. Many of our customers (and all of our staff) use Steri-Fab when traveling and staying in hotels. We always recommend pulling the sheets off of the bed and closely checking the mattress and looking behind head board and in the cracks and crevices of the headboard for evidence of bedbugs. Never put luggage on the bed or on the floor.

    Q
Does Steri-Fab continue to work after it dries?
If so, how long? Do the bugs that crawl on the dried surface that was sprayed die? Does it repel bedbugs?
    A
Steri-Fab only works while it is wet. You must make direct contact with the bedbugs and bedbug eggs for Steri-Fab to be effective. While there may be some repellency from the Steri-Fab, it is not labeled as a repellent.

    Q
Can I add Steri-Fab Insecticide to my laundry?
    A

No, Steri-Fab would not be effective once diluted with water.  If you are treating for bed bugs, a normal wash and dry cycle in hot water and high heat will kill all stages of bed bugs including the eggs without having to add anything special to the wash.

    Q
We need a fogger that will kill mites and can be used indoors/ household.
    A
We normally do not recommend fogging for mites as an effective treatment. It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for bird mites.  If you do indeed have bird mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead bird on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

What can I use to get rid of a birdmite infestation in my condo?
I've had pest control company out 3 times, no luck. I've fogged 3 times with Cedarcide, no luck. Now what? I'm getting bit every night and losing sleep. I washed everything, changed bedding, added bed but/mite protectors to mattress-box spring-pillows.

    Q
Can over spray of Steri-Fab stain wood surfaces, nightstands, headboards etc?
    A

Steri-Fab is safe on almost any surface.  Steri-Fab is formulated to be able to be sprayed on most surfaces.  However, just to be safe you should always spray a small inconspicuous area first just to make sure there are no reactions.  We have never had a complaint about staining before.

    Q
Is it safe to use on a childs stuffed animal and give back or should the toy be a casualty of flea war?
It has an electronic voice box and I cant launder it in a conventional method and have already used Steri-Fab on it before realizing my actions.
    A
Steri-Fab - 16 oz. applied to your childs toy should not pose any harm as long as it has dried. We would not recommend using it on the stuffed animal if the child is putting the stuffed animal in their mouth.

    Q
What is the difference between Suspend CS, Demand CS and Steri-Fab?
Does Steri-Fab kill on contact? As opposed to the other products, does Steri-Fab provide a long-term protection?
    A
Demand CS and Suspend SC are both synthetic pyrethroid concentrated insecticides that need to be diluted with water prior to use. Both products offer a residual that will keep killing insects even after the product has dried. Steri-Fab on the other hand offers a fast knockdown, but does not offer any residual. Steri-Fab is also useful when you need to treat sensitive areas where you cannot use other products.

    Q
Will Steri-Fab kill fleas? Is it harmful to use around my cat and dog?
    A
Steri-Fab is labeled to kill fleas that it makes contact with.  Sterifab is meant to be used to treat your pets environment where fleas or ticks could harbor such as your pets crate or dog bed so would be safe around pets.  They should be out of the area while you are doing the treatment until it dries.  SteriFab alone will not eliminate a flea infestation as it leaves NO residual we would recommend using our Indoor Flea Kit.

    Q
Is there an insecticide that kills bed bug eggs or do you have to wait until hatched and retreat?
    A
There are a few insecticides that claim to kill bedbug eggs. Phantom Aerosol, Sterifab and Bedlam. You should note that those insecticides that claim to kill bedbug eggs must be directly sprayed on the eggs and they are only about 75%-85% effective at actually killing the egg. You will still be required to do retreatments every 7-10 days until you do not receive any more bedbug bites and also see no further evidence that they are active (blood stains, feces or cast skins).

    Q
What are the side effects for Steri-Fab?
    .
    A
When used as directed by the Steri-Fab product label, there should not be a problem with any side effects. Apply Steri-Fab to the item that needs to be treated and leave the area for 30-45 minutes to allow the item to dry. Once Steri-Fab is dry it is safe to use the item again.

    Q
How often should you use Sterifab after the first treatment?
    A
You did not specify what insect you are using the Sterifab to try and control. The Sterifab is a contact kill ONLY product so if you are treating an insect like Bed Bugs you would need residual products for a proper treatment. You can spray Sterifab as often as you would like as it will only kill what it touches while it is wet, or whatever you spray directly with it.

    Q
What is your strongest bed bug spray to spray on luggage after returning from trips? To rid eggs also?
    A
Unfortunately there is not a spray that will kill all of the eggs since the eggs are pretty well protected by their shell. Sterifab is a great product to use because it has a fast kill of the adults and nymphs and it is known to be somewhat effective on bed bugs eggs. It is very important that you are very thorough and treat every crack and crevice and seam on the luggage. Clothing should not be sprayed. Clothing should be bagged and then placed directly in the washing machine and washed.
