    Q
Will suspend SC stain my vinyl siding if I spray the entire exterior of my home.
We live in a heavily wooded area. Other pesticides have stained our siding in the past. If sprayed directly on the vinyl siding (I plan on spraying the entire exterior of my home) will it stain...ever...?
    A
Suspend SC is a water based insecticide that should not stain anything that water itself would not stain. Having said that we always recommend that you test any product you choose on a small inconspicuous area to be sure staining will not occur. Sometimes old paint can be an issue when using any product.

    Q
After applying Suspend SC, how long should I wait to clean my floors?
    A

Suspend SC should be applied directly into cracks, crevices, wall voids and small spot treatments. When applied as specified on the product label, cleaning your floors would have no effect on the product.

    Q
Can Suspend SC liquid be applied to Harwood floors?
I have engineered hardwood floors and my installer and the manufacturer's warranty state that the floors are to remain dry and to immediately wipe up any spills. Is there a way to apply Suspend SC to hardwood floors to treat for everyday pest control?
    A
Suspend SC cannot be applied to hardwood floors. It is meant to be applied to cracks and crevices only. Normally, for general pest control we recommend to stick to cracks, crevices and entry points.

    Q
When using Suspend SC do I need a respirator mask?
Is Suspend SC bad to breath while treating interior off house?
    A
For general treatment indoors, using a basic respirator mask such as the N95 Valved Respirator Mask would be fine to use but is not required.  When using products such as Suspend SC according to the product label it is safe to use and there would be no danger of inhaling any odors.

    Q
After sprayer Suspend SC, how long does it take pests to die?
We sprayed ticks directly, and they are still alive and kicking 24 hours later.
    A

Suspend SC is a residual product so it will not kill a tick if sprayed directly. The amount of time the product takes to kill will depend on the pest in general. It could take one week or just a few days.

  • Asked by Norma from Warrensburg Mo

    Q
Will Suspend SC kill the larvae and eggs of carpet beetles?
    A

Suspend SC will kill adult Carpet Beetles that come into contact with the treated areas. Carpet beetle infestations can be very difficult to control. The best weapon for getting rid of them is to combine cleaning and insecticides.

It is very important that the source of the infestation (where the damaging larva is harboring) is discovered and eliminated, not just the visible adult insects you see wandering around. Until you find out what that is and deal with it you will continue to get more of the carpet beetles emerging from hiding. Carpet beetles may be as likely to feed on grain based food materials as they are on animal byproducts. Pet foods stored in forgotten places, baking goods left too long in the cupboard, rodent baits tossed in the attic - all of these are quite susceptible to carpet beetle feeding. Plus, you also have the typical carpet beetle diets of dead insects (wasp nests in the attic, dead insects in window sills), feathers (bird nests, dead birds), hair (dead rodents, wool products, trophy mounts), and other things made from animal byproducts. Once the source of the infestation is removed or cleaned, using Suspend SC will help get rid of the annoying adult beetles. You can spray once a month until all of the beetles are gone.

Vacuuming: Carpet beetle larvae like to feed in dark, undisturbed locations like closets, attics, basements, and storage areas. The wide availability of food sources for the larvae (including dust and lint, and pet hair) makes vacuuming the best way to ensure there is minimal food for the larvae to feed on. Vacuuming can also help to remove the larvae and adult beetles already in the home. Regular vacuuming and laundering of rugs, furniture, and linens can help to ensure the beetles are removed and have no food source. If you find a contaminated item, bag and remove this item from your home, if possible.

Proper storage: Before storing silks, woolens, or furs, dry clean as the beetles are attracted to stains and soiled garments. Store in a well-sealed container, using mothballs. Mothballs can limit the beetle’s attraction to the wool or silk. Store pet food, dried meat, and other dried animal products in a well-sealed container.

Insecticides: For things that cannot be washed or dry cleaned, insecticides are the best bet for prevention and eradication. You can also mix in Gentrol IGR with your Suspend SC. This will help to break down the reproduction cycle.

Insecticides can be used for spot-treatments, as a boundary at the edges of rugs, under rugs, under furniture, walls and floors of closets, shelving, cracks, and lint or dust accumulating areas. Be careful around oriental rugs or other fabrics, as some insecticides can stain. Never spray clothing or bedding with insecticide, and always read instructions.

    Q
What is the best pesticide for carpet beetles to use indoors that won't harm a cat?
    A

Please visit our Carpet Beetle Control Page.

Insecticides: For things that cannot be washed or dry cleaned, insecticides are the best bet for prevention and eradication. Both Talstar P and Suspend SC are excellent products to use.

They are safe for pets if they are not in the area during the application. The pets can return once the surfaces have completely dried.

  • Asked by Adrian from Greenville, Sc

    Q
Some concerns from a parent and pet owner.
My wife and I live in a small 3 bedroom house and have been having some problems with carpet beetles. We did a good vacuuming last fall and had no additional problems through the winter. Now this past week in March as the weather is starting to warm, I've been noticing adult beetles crawling around, more so in the kitchen area. We do not know how where they are getting in. They like to hang out around the stove and refrigerator (where we did a very thorough cleaning last fall because of them). We also noticed some larvae behind our couch because it's up against a wall and also under our bed around the baseboards. I have two questions: 1. Can this be applied to crevices where the baseboard meets the carpet? I was not sure if this would be OK or not since carpet is porous. I would only be treating the crevices, not the entire carpet area of course. Is this an acceptable application of the product? Or would I need something specifically for porous services? 2. I want to try doing the pest control on my own, but my main concern is obviously the safety of my child and pets. I know that this is safe for pets and kids after things have dried, but our child is 16 months old and into everything. I obviously would allow time for the product to completely dry. But say my kid decides for some reason he wan't to lick the carpet in the area that was treated and dried, (even though we try to keep an eye on him at all times), would there be a danger if something like that were to happen? Same question if a pet licked a dry treated area. These are my two main concerns about doing the treatment myself. Your answers are truly appreciated.
    A
Yes, it seems that you are taking all the correct steps to treat for carpet beetles. Please review our Carpet Beetle control page. Along with persistant vacuuming, application of Suspend, we recommend to also use Gentrol IGR. Gentrol will further break down the reproduction cycle. Rest assured that after dilution, there is only a large enough active ingredient to kill small insects. Treated areas are safe for children and pets to be around after haing dried. This will take 1-2 hours. Please call us at 866-581-7378 so that we can better assist you with your treatment.

    Q
Can linens and clothing be washed in Suspend SC?
    A
Suspend SC cannot be used as a washing additive. Any insect or insect egg on bedding or clothing will be killed in the normal washing/drying cycles and insecticides do not need to be added to the wash for this to happen. Adding insecticides in this way can be very dangerous for anyone using the items.

    Q
If any of the Suspend SC were to get on the apple tree, would it damage the tree or the fruit?
I have carpenter bees boring into my fence. There is also an apple tree in the immediate vicinity. If any of the Suspend SC were to get on the apple tree, would it damage the tree or the fruit? Thanks.
    A
Suspend SC will not damage the tree or the apples.  However, if you are going to harvest the apples you should wash them just to be safe before consuming. It would be best to not spray on a windy day where there would be a possibility of getting the Suspend SC on the apples.

    Q
Does the Suspend SC work for bed bugs and how good it is?
    A
Suspend SC does treat bed bugs. Now, however, research shows that some strains of bed bugs are resisitant to it. We recommend using Temprid SC, because it will treat pyrethroid resistantbed bugs and using double killing power of two different active ingredients. Temprid SC also has a very broad application label.
