    Q
What is shelf life of the Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations?
I plan to store them in a dry garage subject to winter freezing temps and 90+ degree summers.
    A

The Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations do not really have an expiration date because the effectiveness of the active ingredient does not diminish over time. However, like any food-based product, the bait may become less appetizing to foraging ants after an extended shelf life. We recommend using fresh bait if you've had the same stations for more than two years.

    Q
Will Terro PCo work on carpenter ants as well?
I have little black ants(I believe sugar ants) as well as carpenter ants. I am looking for an ant bait station that will work on both. Is this a good option?
    A
Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations will treat carpenter ants as well as all types of other ants, as long as they are in the mood for a sugar bait.  It is highly recommended to also use Advance 375A Ant Granular Bait which is a protein bait.  You should always give ants a choice as they may be in the mood for either a protein (granule) or a sugar (gel) bait. Even though the smaller ants you have are typically called "sugar ants", they too can be in the mood for a protein and they will not touch the Terro if they are not in need of the sugar.

    Q
Please tell me how to use the Terro PCO bait stations.
It seems if I cut the stations where they say to the liquid bait will just come out and run all over.
    A
There will not be any mess using the Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations as long as you follow the product label instructions. The small cut will create a vacuum of sorts which will stop the bait from running out.

    2. Hold bait upright and cut off orange-colored section.

  • Asked by Linda

    Q
How would I use Terro PCO ant bait if the ants are located in the bathroom walls (tub area)?
We have been in a new home for 6 months now and recently noticed tiny black ants. At first, we assumed that they were coming in via the plumbing/pipes. They end up all of the bathtub and floor, constantly throughout the day. However, we recently noticed that they are in fact coming out of the walls. How would this bait work for them to take back to the colony?
    A
You simply place the stations close to the area where you are seeing activity such as on the ledge of the tub. The ants will come and feed on the ant bait and carry it back to the colony where they will share it with the other ants. Baits do a great job eliminating those ants that have colonies in hidden or inaccessible areas. Ants do occasionally change their nutritional needs and sometimes will accept carbohydrates or sweet baits (usually liquids or gels) such as the Terro PCO and at other times they will only accept protein baits (usually solids or granules) such as the Niban granules. We usually recommend that you use both a sweet and protein bait together so that you do not have a problem with bait acceptance.

  • Asked by David from Pearland, Tx

    Q
Is treatment with Terro compatible with Dominion 2L?
We have an epic Crazy ant problem around our home with suspected nests within wall and ceiling voids. I have treated the perimeter with Dominion 2L but would like more immediate results until it takes effect. What do you suggest? You guys run a great site with excellent Q&A. I really appreciate it!
    A
We recommend you use Phantom Aerosol for indoor crazy ant control. Phantom works much like the Dominion 2L in that it transfers from ant to ant. Phantom seems to work better with crazy ants than bait does as crazy ants will sometimes avoid baits.

    Q
When can I put the liquid bait traps outside
I live in VT and the nights get down in the teens, but the days warm up into the 40's. How soon can I put the ant traps outside and will the liquid bait freeze. I am starting to see ants on my kitchen counter
    A

We would not recommend placing Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations outside while you are still experiencing freezing temperatures.  You can place them indoors near ant trails or where you are seeing ant activity if you wish.

    Q
Does Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations - 30 stations kill Harvester Ants?
I have Harvester Ant nests in the back yard and bug spray does not get rid of them on a long term basis. The nest is gone for about a week, and then is back active again.
    A

Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations - 30 stations will not treat for Harvester Ants. We recommend to use Advance 375A  out in the yard and to nest. Around your home you can apply Termidor SC 1 foot up and out from the foundation.

  • Asked by David from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
    07/17/2015
    Q
When usingTerro PCO Ant Bait Stations - 30 stations, do you recommend using the Advance granular bait also?
Is that supposed to go in the liquid or in a separate bait station?
    A

We recommend to use a granule bait combined with Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations - 30 stations  because ants are very fickle and may crave a sweet bait like in the bait stations or a protein like in the Advance 375A. Please review our Ant Pest Control Guide for more information about ant control.

  • Asked by Nita from Delaware
    09/08/2021
    Q
The Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations are not working still after 7 days to get rid of tiny ants?
We used Terro before with very good results within two days but now we are living at a new house and after a bad rainstorm we started seeing tiny ants on the kitchen sink window sill. After 7 days using Terro we are still seeing them.
    A

Terro PCO Ant Bait Stations will attract and kill a wide list of ants as long as they are searching for sugar/carbohydrate food source. Ants acceptance to baits depend on the what the colony needs being a sugar food source or protein food source. Since these dietary needs can change frequently, it is recommended to offer both a sugar and protein ant bait.

We suggest using Advance 375A Ant Granular Bait which is a protein bait at the same time as an ant gel bait to always provide a choice. Even though the smaller ants you have are typically called "sugar ants", they too can be in the mood for a protein and they will not touch the Terro if they are not in need of the sugar.

Please view our Ant Treatment Guide for more information.
