I think I have a fire ant that's coming in the bathroom.

I see only one at a time, no trail, in the tub or on the sink. Is this possible? This ant has a brown body and back/dark brown rear. It's approximately 1/4 inch long with some being even longer. What is it if not a fire ant?

Answer:

It is very common to find single scouting ants indoors that are seeking food or water sources for their colonies. It is very rare to find fire ants indoors. Some carpenter ants are black with a reddish brown thorax and would fit in this size range. Regardless of which ant it may be, you should consider using an exterior perimeter treatment and perhaps spot treating inside to prevent ant or similar pest infestations.
