    Q
How long after spraying Topia Insecticide, is it safe for pets?
I have a fire ant problem on my porch, but that is where my dog is a lot of the time. Will this work on fire ants, and is it safe for my dog?
    A
Topia will kill ants that come across the barrier, but Topia will not make it back to the fire ant colony.  If you want long term control of fire ants, you usually would want to use a fire ant bait in the yard that the ants eat and take back to the colony to kill the queen.  We recommend our best selling fire ant bait Extingush Plus Fire Ant Bait.  To answer your first question, Topia is very safe for use around pets.  Typically, you would just want to have your dog inside or in another area while you are spraying. Once the spray is dry, usually about 30 minutes, it is perfectly safe to have your pet back in the area. All of the fire ant baits are pet safe also.

    Q
Will Topia aerosol kill stink bugs?
I just found four of these things. Two bugs on my curtain, one inside my light and one on my pillow. Will Topia kill stink bugs, or is there another product that you can recommend?
    A
Topia is labeled for and will most certainly kill stink bugs. Having said that, trying to kill stink bugs after they have already moved indoors is a loosing battle. Stink bugs move indoors in large numbers in late fall to find a warm place to spend the winter. Usually 100's of these insects will invade a structure at a time. They gain entry by finding small openings on the exterior of the structure and then hide in hidden areas such as wall voids or attics. Once the heat comes on, some of the bugs become confused and will start to emerge into the living area. You can use a product such as D-Force which offers a residual (Topia does not have a residual) in cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room to kill insects as they emerge. Vacuuming the stink bugs up as you find them is really the most effective thing you can do at this point. The hidden stinkbugs will leave your home in the spring when the weather warms up. Next fall, you should treat the exterior of your home with a product such as Demon WP every month starting in August and ending in November. Prevention is much easier than removal. Please take a few minutes to read our article entitled Stink Bug Control for more tips and information.

    Q
Can I use Topia outdoors to kill stink bugs?
    A
Topia would not be a good choice for stinkbug control. It does not leave a long lasting residual and will only kill the stinkbugs you spray directly. If you are trying to prevent stinkbugs from entering your home in the fall please consider using the products contained in our Overwintering Kit. This kit was put together just for insects that try to move indoors in the fall such as stinkbugs, ladybugs, box elder bugs and cluster flies. If your prefer all natural products, you should consider using Eco Exempt IC2 and MotherEarth Dust both of which will offer long lasting residual control of stinkbugs and can be used indoors and outdoors.

It can only be used on non skin touching surfaces of areas like couches and mattresses. This is a contact kill ONLY product and will not leave behind any residual to either continuously kill or prevent bed bugs.
