  • Asked by Sean from Hon, Hi
    05/26/2019
    Q
Once termites eat the Trelona bait and mud is formed throughout the bait, should I install another?
Termites have eaten the non treated cartridge and the poison. Do I keep installing more compressed trelona bait?
    A

As the termites eat the Trelona Compressed Termite Bait it will be normal for them to bring mud into the cartridge and around it. If the contents of the Trelona cartridge are all gone from consumption and you still see live termites in the station you would put another Trelona cartridge in its place for the colony to feed on. Once there is no more activity in the station you can take the Trelona out and replace it with the wood and monitoring cartridge, and continue checking it every 3 months for activity.

  • Asked by Trina

    Q
Can Trelona Compressed Termite Bait kill a colony?
In responses to previous questions it was stated that termite baits should not be used for a colony that is already in the house. But I called many pest removal business and informed them I have confirned and infestation and 95% of them said their plan of action would be termite baits. I am confused as to what to believe.
    A

Yes, Trelona Compressed Termite Bait will kill a subterranean termite colony within about 90 days or so.  Termite baiting systems are best used to monitor termite activity prior to having an infestation in your home, but they still may be used as part of a plan to eradicate an infestation as well. We do not recommend relying on termite bait station alone to elimated termites which are already inside the home. If you are looking for a more direct application for eradication we would suggest doing a trench treatment.  You can find all the details for this treatment found in our Termite Guide.

  • Asked by Jerad from Riverview Fl.33578

    Q
If termites are located under logs, can Trelona Compressed Termite Bait - box (6 cartridges) be opened and applied from the cartridge?
Gently hand feeding them if you will, to quicken the kill.
    A

Trelona Compressed Termite Bait cannot be used in the manner you're describing.  The bait cartridges should only be used in their intended bait stations. Hand feeding them will not quicken the kill.  Baits are desinged to be a slower kill so the insect has ample time to carry the bait back to the colony and share it.  You can use a product like Dominion 2L to treat the soil around where these logs are stacked.  Do not treat the wood directly if this wood will become firewood at any point.

  • Asked by Pete from Sanford, Fl
    01/27/2018
    Q
Will the Trelona Compressed Termite Bait fit the Termatrol inserts?
    A

Trelona cartridges were designed specifically for the Advance/Trelona Bait Stations. We do not carry the Termatrol stations and from a quick search it looks like that brand was discontinued in 2003 or 2004, so we would not be able to tell you if these would fit those stations if you still have some. Unfortunately, we are unsure of the size of the Termatrol units to know if these cartridges would work within them.
